I've been there as well. The castle has nothing to do with Vlad Tepes, it's said that he slept there ONCE, supposedly. I mean, it's an okay trip, but nothing extraordinary.

I think I will start my trip in Varna and then travel to Sofia-Skopje-Nis-Belgrade by bus/train but I see alot of reports of theft in the night trains is this true or do you need just like in any country watch your stuff while travelling? And does anyone has experience with travelling across borders? And for these destinations is it safer to travel by bus or by train in terms of traffic and accidents etc?

Nah, there are classes, most nasty people would probably get the cheapest tickets so if you book for 1st class you'll be more than okay and actually the trains for major transits, such as Sofia-Varna should even be decent.

Again, the tracks are outdated and hence slow, but you can cough up a laughable sum like 10-15 Euro and be train VIP around here :yao:

It's not like there are gangs that terrorise train passangers or anything.

Not many passanger train accidents I can recall so it's safe. Same goes for buses, I mean, drivers are idiots here like everywhere. Border control can be a bitch, as dax said, especially the Bulgarian-Serbian border, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. Eastern Europe might be a chaotic mess but it certainly isn't as bad as most of Western Europeans imagine.

I probably travel by train from Varna-Sofia and Nis-Belgrade, from Sofia to Skopje I couldn't find any trainschedule so I will take the bus. Funny thing was to see that from Skopje to Nis, it takes 2 hours longer if you travel by train so I will take the bus then. I will go 12/13 days so i will have enough time to explore the cities. The only thing I fear a little is crossing the borders because of the corruption and it's a strange trip to travel from Bulgaria to Macedonia to Serbia by yourself. I want to go in April/May because the weather is pretty nice not to hot to explore the region.

If anyone has some recommendations for things to do/see in these cities please let me know!

I'm finally going to Ireland which will be for one week in the beginning of April (6-13). What is a must see thing? It will be together with two friends and we will rent a car in Dublin for four days and then head over to the western part of Ireland. I know four days aren't much. Visiting a thousand pubs are definitely something we will do. Is the Guinness museum worth a visit? And that well known cliff visiting space somewhere around Galway (If I'm right with my memory).

Azul wrote about his trip to Ireland earlier in this thread. Any places you can recommend in the western and southern part?

Harpasu mentioned Kilkenny. May I ask why?

The six nation match against France is sadly played three weeks prior to the trip which was something I really hoped I would had made. Then there is Gaelic football which has caught my interest for quite some time but April seems to be too early for any competitions. Any other sports I should visit?

Giants causeway seems to be too north in terms of what will be possible. Sadly because the place seems great on the pictures. What I meant is the cliffs of moher. My country is almost as flat as the Netherlands which makes cliffs appealing to me in a weird but not sexual way. Or...

Cliffs of Moher mate, a must see. I would stop in tipperary too for the rock of cashel if you're interested in that type of thing. Kilkenny is just a really nice town and the nightlife is brilliant. Such a great place to visit. April is too early really for gaa but there might be a hurling match on that time of year, most likely too early though. Have a great time!

Apart from the Cliffs of Moher, there are many places worth a visit in Ireland west coast.

Connemara
Dingle Peninsula
Killarney National Park. Ladies' View in Killarney is one of the most breathtaking view I've seen.

In the east, there are Glendalough and Wicklow. These aren't far from Dublin so they can be done as a day trip.
Glendalough is a lake which looks like a pint of Guinness from the top of the hill.

Thanks for the great recommendations. I'm afraid the trip is not long enough at all as there are many great things to do and see in the beautiful country of Ireland but I will visit as many of the things as possible.

And I definitely have to visit Ireland at some other point to watch both a rugby match and a gaa match.

I will start my trip in late May / beginning of June so I was wondering if there are still any football games in the National competition of Bulgaria, Serbia or Macedonia? And if it's hard to get tickets as an tourist? Also interested in music festival or festivals where I can learn and experience really the culture of the country. I'm planning of going to Plovdiv for 1 day when I'm in Sofia because Plovdiv is a really beautifull city if you're into the Roman Empire. Is it do-able and worth it? I've extended my trip to 2/2,5 weeks so I have the time to discover the countries. And is Rila National Park worth a visit?

Here are some pics from my trip to Ireland last April. There´s a lot of those that I took with my phone, tbh most of the pics I took there were with my phone because it rained a lot, what a shocker, I didn´t want to risk damaging my camera.
I really loved the country was waiting to go there for years but finally made it, I´ll return for sure in the future, so many beautiful landscapes, full of history and above anything else the people are the best, fantastic sense of humour and always ready to tease while being helpful at the same time. I actually met a lad from Dublin that was solo travelling when I was in Krakow last October and ended up joining my group of friends for the night after that and we talked about how for me the best thing about Ireland is the people.

If you haven´t visited yet make sure to add that to the bucket list.

Do you have a link where I could see the rest of the pictures? I like the way you've taken pictures of my "city" Galway and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to spot a few familiar faces. I usually head into Neachtains (11th) pic for one of the best Guinness you can get.

Maybe it's because I don't really see much more photography to compare it with but all of your pictures are great.

I hope someone can help me, i'm trying to book a flight to Plovdiv but I can't find any direct flights from Holland/Belgium or West-Germany does anyone now which airlines fly on Plovdiv? Otherwise I have to fly to Sofia and take the bus from there which isn't to bad but first I want to try and fly to Plovdiv directly.

It's either Varna/Burgas or Sofia, those are the major airports. Also depends on where you live - cheapest flights are Eindhoven-Sofia, which I used earlier this year.

Plovdiv is like 2 hours away from the Capital by bus, so it's not that bad mind you, similar to Eindhoven-Amsterdam.

If you're making your way East to West then it makes sense for you to first visit the Black Sea cities (Varna and Burgas) and then make your way Westwards via Plovdiv.
