Good for Handa but like I wrote once long time ago on FIF, I'm opposed to goalkeepers wearing the armband. Especially since Handa won't exactly be the starting goalkeeper for that long. Should've given it to Skriniar.

Meh would've preferred Skriniar as captain. Still, don't think it's clever to do this to our only superstar in the team.

This all could've been avoided if they never gave him the captaincy to start with.

Yea but you’re talking about a time when the club was complete shit and he was the only one trying for this team. He earned it in the first place, but lost it when his wife started flapping her gums

We had just hired Mancini and he wanted to give the armband to Icardi. Mancini always wanted to give the armband to forwards. During his first spell, he wanted to take the armband from Zanetti and give it to Vieri.

Very weird move! I fear that this will only steer up more shit and most likely wont change much. Anyways our mgm is stupid for not giving it to handa in the first place.

Then again i guess the fact that we did this shows that there were some people in the group who did not want icardi as captain. Anyways i just hope this was well communicated between club and Icardi/wanda otherwise we are about to witness an even bigger shit storm than ever before.

It's possible nothing changes on the pitch but so what? This had to be done at some point anyway. Though it seems the most probable outcome is a sale because extension talks have hit a roadblock.

Note that Handa was here before Icardi, and now most likely will be here after Icardi. They could've made him captain after Zanetti and no one would've complained. But no, Rano and then Icardi.

Icardi is no captain material by all means, but that band has given him a boost in leadership. We may not see it on the pitch, but he has been busy with Martinez every training, ... It's dumb to do this in the middle of the season. Doubt much will change, but this is just putting oil on a spark. Icardi will certainly not sign a new contract and we will lose our most advertisable and one of the best players we have for 100m. I do not trust this club with money. Instead of going for a Werner, we'll sign a Borriello and hope he will fill Icardi's boots.

We'll see how this plays out. But I'd rather see us keep Icardi and give him better support.

I completely agree here. The fact that Wanda publicly whores Icardi around & literally publicly blackmails the club for a pay rise (for what feels like a monthly occurrence) is not a good look for the team and club as a whole.

I also have another theory. That it is simply agreed with Icardi that he gives up the captaincy and can concentrate on the game. Maybe too hopeful?

The timing of this is indeed quite odd. Why couldn't this be done after the season, if they plan to sell him? How does this increase our chances of getting to CL if they strip the captaincy of our only superstar?

I now really hope this theory of mutual stripping of captaincy is true.

Can't fault the decision itself, but the timing is rather foolish.

I don't see how taking away the captaincy from our top goal scorer mid-season will motivate him to score more goals.

The coming months are crucial for the CL spots. And finishing in one of the CL spots absolutely influences the summer mercato.

On the other hand tho, the fucker and his wife had it coming. All the media antics during mercatos is the last thing to expect from a club captain.

Probably Moratta, but it's cool as many here thinks that Moratta can contribute more than Icardi.

of course it will not change anything regarding our tactics and gameplay, but atleast we will send a message to all present and future players that they cannot be captains and leaders and at a same time play games with us and demand constant contract extensions

It's hard to add anything smart, but I just keep on thinking: if in last few months we've seen a Wanda shitshow only because management said the negotiations are going ok, imagine what's going to happen now...

On the other hand, even though I would like Icardi to stay, I really appreciate the gesture by the club. We are finally showing "no one is bigger than the club" attitude.
