Mandragora and Dimarco were downright detrimental.

Mandrogora as #10 is such a travesty.

If Italy don't get a big win against Belgium, then they will get knocked out as the group stage has a very unforgiving format. I hope Tonali and Kean get a start in the next game, alongside Chiesa, Barella, Pelligrini, and maybe Cutrone.

See guys...world class players are easy to spot in these tournaments because they're men in a sea of adults.

Chiesa is that guy.

Barella is not. Neither is Zaniolo. I'll be surprised if either of them set the world on fire.

I am going to pull a brehme here, but didn't it used to be called U-23 originally?

No idea. In that case, qualifying stage was played by 23 year old players and the main tournament was by 25 year old?

Zaniolo is still only 19, which is young to be starting for one of the premier teams in the competition. When he's 23 competing in this competition I have little doubt that he'll dominate.

Cuz he’s owned by Juve. He has no business starting for the team, let alone #10

Doubt Italy will lose against Belgium. Youth is nowhere near as good as the big boys. Defense is an utter joke in which i'll see Chiesa having a fun game.

I happened to watch Italy-Poland and it was an unlucky loss, but they just didn't use their chances.

- I was very disappointed by Barella, who wasn't really present. I thought he would be in a more dominant role in this tournament, as he is considered to be far above average.
- Chiesa proved he is a baller. Very tricky and pacey, also frequently trying to do things. There are two buts:
1) His end product is above garbage. He makes Politano look efficient.
2) He is a ball hog. He can be very very frustrating with that.
- Dimarco wasn't as bad as made out, he had some decent crosses in the first half, and always found space with overlapping runs, but didn't get a single pass by Chiesa.
- Mancini had a good game, but he gets caught out of Position too often, because his defending is strongly based on anticipating. He has to improve the feeling
of making the right move in the right moment, because else he will always get exposed on a higher Level.

There is one Player which interested me the most, because of the current hype surrounding him: Alessandro Bastoni.
And the more I watched, the more I saw a world class defender in the next three years. Boy oh Boy is this guy good. He is not spectacular in the way of playing, but extremely calm, composed, and mature in his style of playing. He has everything; positioning, stature, speed, passing, tackling, and anticipation to become one of the best defenders in the world. Him being left footed is an extra to that.
If you ask me, Bastoni should be carefully evaluated by Conte this pre season, because he is certainly going to get playing time in a three man defence, if only Godin comes and Miranda leaves.

As things stand, Italy is out.

Damn Chiesa just pulled some dirty shit there. He may be talented, but I don't like rooting for players like that.

First with the right, very lucky saved from the belgium player. And then on the deflection, with precision and a calm left foot, Barella tryes again and scores!

Already scored 2 goals in 7 games with the national team. And now the first one for the U21 team.

Anyone has any idea why Zinho and Emmers are not called up with Belgium ??
If for Emmers might be doubts over the quality , i don't think there were such doubts for Zinho. He was even mentioned for the national team.

I’m pretty sure he has a knee injury
