His inability to shoot or finish is just the tip of the iceberg. The biggest concern for him is, what sort of striker is he and what is his speciality ?
He is quite slow especially considering his size and playstyle, his finishing and shooting are just average, he is not able to dribble past opponents consistently, his off the ball movement is nothing special, his hold up play and link up play are mediocre etc. He scores a lot for his national team, but we also must remember that there are Klose, Podolski, and Guerrero who were very productive for their NT, but failed in club competetitions.

Lautaro still has room to grow and I hope he manages to develop, but he barely has time to grow as Inter and their fans will not wait for someone to mature. If he fails to deliver, Inter are ready to prepare other players to replace him.

His shooting also seems shockingly weak.

Unfortunately, Lautaro has been missing all chances right and left at the moment. Hope, that changes soon.

And people here were asking if all I saw in him was his mediocre finishing. :howler:

If he continues like this, Politano/Sanchez will definitely replace him as the starter next to Lukaku.

I have always thought that he is not a starting eleven material, YET, for a club like Inter. But saying that, it doesn't mean that he has no place here. He has potential, that's for sure. I think his 'maniac' playing style really suits him as a super-sub role when the opposition players are already tired.

Yeah, Lautaro can get better. But as of now, he has no business starting over Sanchez who is clearly a way better player, be it in terms of skills and experience of course. If Sanchez has finally reached full fitness, I don't see any reason why he's not starting from now on. He's a renowned world class superstar. He is still on a crazy high wage even if we only pay part of it. So, there's absolutely no reason for him to be on the bench if he's fit to play.

For the time being, Lautaro can be his mentee and learn a lot from him. When the time comes, hopefully he'll be ready and capable enough to take Sanche'z mantle.

He needs to eat bench for a while. Hopefully that sets him straight.

That would probably be the worst thing for him right now. He needs a goal or 2 to calm him down

You guys would have a good case against him if he wasn't in dangerous situations but he is really one of our most lively players and causes havoc in the oppositions PK area on a regular basis...people just pissed he isn't capitalizing on it... But sooner or later this will bear fruits and everyone will be over the moon with him, he needs a maturing process from Conte tho, yes absolutely
His decision making needs to improve, he is too much of a hot head at times, seems to eager to do everything in a move, he is very kid like still

This. I'm not high on Lautaro but the fact is he is getting chances. It's one thing to get half-chances and converting or trying to convert them like Icardi and another thing is to get chances like Lautaro is getting. He's not converting them which is bad but the good thing is he's getting those chances. He can position himself and make the moves. He just needs to get that goal. He need to be more decisive and less lackadaisical.

If you want a successful youth strategy, then you cannot shit on young players just because they are not immediately/consistently performing at top level. This is the development phase for guys like Martinez and Barella, they will have good moments and bad ones. They are not a finished article yet, but both have great potential and seem to be trying hard and playing with high intensity. The rest will come with time.

I am quite satisfied with the way both of them are developing.

Agreed but he still needs to show more in order to even get that developpement time. Also you compare him to barella but barella has shown way more in serie a then lautaro did. And yes they are gonna have good and bad moments but what frustrates me with Lautaro is thats all he has shown so far there was not really a game where he was great for 90 minutes he has those flashes of briliance but they usually are followed by a stupid decision pretty fast after that.

Like i said in a earlier post he needs to step it up this season, realistically speaking this is the last season where we should be happy with finishing top 3 and not challenging for the title which is not gonna be the case next season. So it really is this year where he has to lock down that starting spot and prove that he can reach a WC level, now thus far i dont think he has done so and i d guess that sanchez takes his starting spot rather sooner than later.

Yes youngsters need time but at big clubs there is just a limited amount of opportunities and if you dont grab them when they are offered to you chances are your not gonna make it. Imho this is his season to make it he s not gonna ever get less pressure nor less competition for his starting spot at Inter. Btw that does not mean he has to be on a wc level by the end of the season but he drastically has to improve his decision making which imho is pretty much the same as it was when he arrived here.

Also lets not compare with cou as cou left the club already at 21 and never got as many chances as Lautaro will get this season.

Lautaro needs to learn when to be selfish and when to be unselfish.

If the game ever slows down for this guy, and he stops having these rushed plays that he always has, he will become the best striker in the world, quote me on this in 2 years.

He has the speed, tenacity, and the killer instinct inside of him, he just needs time to understand how to slow it down for himself.

Is aguero at his age also as selfish as lautaro?

Yes, but with way more successful dribbling per attempt.

To me, there is just a discrepancy in talent and skillset. So it’s better we stop comparing Lautoro to Aguero.

What wallace said also aguero with 19 was in his second season at atletico and scored 19 and assisted 8, yes it s easier in spain but if we re honest with ourselfes there really is not much reason to compare them as aguero was on a different level early on.
