Same. I was expecting him to kind of coast along and enjoy collecting a wage when we first signed him, but the time he's spent here you can tell he wants to prove himself and to win. We all have our opinions on his abilities but the guy shows up to play.

You dont see a lot of English players leaving England around his age and giving a fuck at their new teams but a scudetto won is a scudetto deserved.

Yup. I am surprised at how well and quickly he settled in, both on and off the field. It's the total contrary of what you would expect from an English footballer playing abroad. Dude seems genuinely happy and PROUD to be here, getting along well with everybody.

Still, I don't wish to see him here next season. Winning the Scudetto this season and returning to Watford next season is the ideal fairy tale for Young.

Inter’s Ashley Young: “I Couldn’t Turn Down Chance To Join Nerazzurri From Manchester United”

Ashley Young admits it was impossible to turn Inter down when the Nerazzurri came calling last year.

The wing-back signed on a €1.5 million deal from Manchester United in January 2020, following a request from head coach Antonio Conte.

Young has since made 54 appearances for Inter in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.

Speaking to his former Watford teammate Jordan Stewart on Slimzilla Daily, a podcast produced by Vover, the 35-year-old recalled: “The opportunity (to join Inter) came out of the blue really.

“I’d been at Manchester United for nine years and the interest came.

“I thought: ‘To play for one of the biggest clubs in Italy, and to play regularly… I can’t turn it down.'”

Young was faced with a series of new tactical challenges when he joined Inter and explained the differences between playing in the Premier League and in Serie A.

“Italian football is much more tactical,” the former Aston Villa winger confirmed.

“Lots of teams play in their own half and try to win the ball back there.

“Several teams play with 3-5-2 and give great importance to the wing-backs, who have to defend and attack, and the top sides can loses with teams in mid-table or at the bottom.

“I remember that in my first day of training at Inter we did an exercise that they call ‘blocks’.

“I asked: ‘What are blocks?’

“They all saw me with a lost expression, I didn’t know what they were.

“Conte never stops during matches: with the stadiums empty you can always hear what he’s saying.”

Young also explained how he had fared in terms of learning Italian, an essential skill in order to fully understand Conte’s instructions in training at Appiano Gentile.

“I’ve only learned a few words in Italian but the COVID-19 pandemic is to blame for that,” he added.

“I had a teacher, but the pandemic arrived after my first lesson and I wasn’t able to meet her again.

“I could try online lessons from home but I already have my kids on video links for school.

“I can understand Italian but I can’t speak it; I can’t carry a conversation.”

Young is out of contract at Inter in the summer and is not expected to sign an extension, as per recent reports in Italy.

my only regret with young is that he was so much better (for the most part) last season than this season. But, it'd be a great way for him to finish his career at Inter, and for a cheap signing he's done far better than any of us expected I think.

<<and the top sides can loses with teams in mid-table or at the bottom.>>

 Imagine how much propaganda there is going that this is only something that occurs in the Premier League (which is becoming more rare there than in Italy, mind you) that professional players are surprised to see that opposition does not roll over

On the tactical aspect, it's nice to see them speak out because most people have no idea of how low the standard of training is in the PL. They train for less hours and do much less shit, it's mostly on conditioning or kicking the ball about. And then there's the "tactical brief'. That's like some dude with a big fat belly tells the ripped guy that he also works out. :D

He also added that Serie A is a farmer's league because the pitches look like farmer fields

Not enough money for photoshop filters for the cameras to make the grass look greener or to install 5 mics every 2 people for false stadium ambience and intense audio.
The irony is that in leagues where the fans genuinely have proper atmosphere, at least when they are packed - since interest feels at an all time low in most places in the last couple of years - we see the broadcasters cut the stadium down from 50% to like 10% just so that they can be able to hear themselves when their studio reporters cover the game (think Italy, Greece, Turkey, Serbia and even France or Germany), which can cause hearing problems once they switch to a reporter near the bench as the stadium noise is too intense due to the contrast, yet in the Premier League they amplify the stadium sound by 200% just to be able to "sell" the fact that there is some atmosphere and all you can hear is amplified murmurs

Your jokes are often something that people hold as opinion so it's nicer to reply to them in normal fashion as someone will picl it up from there.

So I see that Watford is getting promoted. Good, makes it easier to see this guy leave at the end of the season. Such a liability and with that salary...

Rumour has it that we have offered him a one year extension.

If he decides to take it up, that will be one year too long.

Oh, thank god you voiced your opinion. I've been thinking I'm alone in this but I didn't want to take the discussion since I still have to recover from the Candreva era.

Don't have one.

This is one of the traps we could get into, especially if we win the title and emotions start running wild, and that's giving somewhat undeserving people new contracts. Its not only young, there are loads of other mofos that need to go aswell.

It would be much better if we replace him with di marco and then go buy someone close to hakimi level on the left side, which all the newspapers are saying is our main goal for the next mercato.

An extension for Young probably means we are 100% selling Perisic and getting a starting LWB.
