I'd watch this CL, at least the games would be fun.

Idk how long the effect of this will last, but that inaugural season is going to be wild. This will be what finally makes football penetrate the North American market as a major sport.

People keep saying this sort of stuff, and it never happens. As an American, there's nothing more I would love than for this sport to take off in this country, but it still hasn't happened as of yet, even with increasing numbers of MLS teams, having had a World Cup in the United States, far more accessibility to all the big domestic leagues now than there was 10+ years ago, and surely plenty of other things I can't even think of at the moment.

There are plenty of problems I have with a lot of things we see in American sporting models over here, but I will also just say that, at least on the topic of closed circuit competition, that is something that has always existed in sports leagues over here and, like it or not, that's just the way things are, it's what we're used to, it's what our models are based on, and the merit-based aspect of things comes from qualifying for postseason competition to try and win the league's championship. This sort of shit would be like if the Yankees, Cardinals, Athletics, Red Sox, and Giants were all guaranteed playoff positions every season because they have the most World Series championships in the sport. And people here would have an absolute fit of rage over something like that too, I guaran-fucking-tee you that.

I fucking hate the amount of power that American culture has on the rest of the world. Guess what? American culture fucking sucks. Maybe we have two coasts to make it difficult to attack us by sea, but having two coasts should also help keep the crazy contained. Maybe not.

Honestly, seeing the same matches every week is kind of boring. We're going to face the same opponents over and over, I hate it.

Personnaly, I am not that interested in the CL anymore either, I want a return to The true European Cup : You win your league, you're in the CL. Not this fucked up inequality when 5 countries has 50% of the qualifying spot.

I want a Uefa Cup / Europa League that is trully competitive and bring back C2.

I want 90's European Cup basically, when winning C2 or C3 was equally harder and prestigious as winning C1.

I want to take this post and frame it on my wall. I said something similar not that long ago, so I fully agree with you. Unfortunately there's no way of putting that toothpaste back in the tube, but an actual CHAMPIONS League, like the old European Cup was, would be wonderful, and bring prestige back to the UEFA Cup (and CW Cup) as well.

Say goodbye to FC Internazionale Milano, next year we will be playing under the name of FC Black & Blue of Milan and the abysmal 4th kit will be made the 1st home kit.

I don't like this a lil bit. First of all, it kills the sporting spirit football has. Getting relegated and fighting to improve so you go to a stage when you can qualify is pure. This is money talks and nothing but business. No competition, no sporting feeling, nothing.

IF Super League is change to CL, with clubs being able to be relegated or qualified, teams to change, i'd be ok with it, this way, fuck no. Especially if it means we don't get to play in Serie A, and that whole history and tradition goes in vain. Fuck that.

FIGC confirms no punishment to the Treacherous Trio for the 2020/21 season but they will hand down penalties in line with UEFA recommendations thereafter.

CL ban for 10 years. Demotion down a tier. Whatever punishment is handed out, it must be extremely severe.

I will eat a proverbial hat if its anything like that. Banning the big clubs from the CL because they didnt wanna participate in the CL is just idiotic. Serie A, the CL, and UEFA, wont survive having to renegotiate contracts with all the big providers in sport, even if the ESL doesnt actually happen.

These guys pay for big clubs - if no big clubs then you wont get the offer.

I'm waiting for the wild card round to be implemented, then we can say "We've arrived".:palm:
Imagine having owners who leech off the league’s economic benefits to themselves or their shareholders, while their under-invested teams freely flounder at the bottom without the risk of relegation. And if you add in a hypothetical draft system/lottery that rewards these poorly performing teams with the best young prospects (i.e., develop them then sell them off to the highest bidder), they’ll likely be content at becoming an indefinite feeder club. An endless cycle of mediocrity and tanking. Boy would it suck to be a fan of that.

Maybe EUFA will compromise and agree to give more €€€ to the clubs, or adjust the format of Champions League? What are your thoughts on the likelood of that happening?

Seems like that would be the best outcome.

Personally I would have no interest in us being whipping boys to these Globo Homo "Super" teams, and not playing in Serie A.

Don't have one.
According to La Repubblica, Atalanta, Hellas Verona and Cagliari have asked for Inter, Milan and Juventus to be expelled from current Serie A season.

Yeah, it totally fucks up hellas verona and cagliari projects of getting into cl via the old system

They'll do nothing, in fact if they are smart they will welcome this, that money will surely also get to them, cus guess what players like barella will have tattooed price tag on their asses of 100 mil and nobody will even blink an eye.

Have we?!?! The clubs still want to play in respective leagues

I don't think that's gonna happen. More likely there will be a ESL and a certain (high) amount of those teams will also compete for the Champions League.

It just lines the pockets of the owners while the national leagues lose money and are all bound to feeder status.

Seems like Tuchel is the first major player/coach from the twelve clubs who is in support the of the ESL since the official announcement. Wouldn’t be surprised if others followed suit with similar comments.

—-
Sky Sports UK reporting a number of the teams signing on for a 23-year commitment to the ESL.

—-
Financial times - Organizers exploring potentially lucrative broadcast rights from the likes of Amazon, Facebook, Disney, and Comcast (who own Sky). [[[Imagine the ESL being nicknamed the “Mickey Mouse Cup” :yao:]]]

I believe Uefa and ESL clubs will eventually find a solution that benefits everyone and we will be back to "normal" again.

Because I don't see how this could work. CL without these big clubs won't attract people it would be an european league level competition. Also I cannot see how these big clubs can brake out from everything Uefa and Fifa have. Although those two are pretty much rotten and corrupt associations.
