I'd like to wait for proper news outlets before taking this rumour seriously.

18m€ was mentioned somewhere but yeah, doesn't make much difference. Too bad it went like it did, but glad if he can continue his career somehow.

Maybe I'm late with all this.....but I heard Ajax might be interested in him? Doesn't seem like he'll be able to play in Italy anymore with having an ICD

tbh id be weary about having him play at all anymore idk; that was real scary stuff man

I think the club is proceeding on the basis that he is not coming back which is why they jumped on Çalhanoğlu. Although I am guessing that part of the appeal with his transfer was down to the fact that he was a free agent. I doubt Eriksen will play in Serie A again although he may resurface in the Netherlands or in a league where he wil be permitted to play with the heart device.

It's IECD boys :pazzini:

So what is the current plan - he needs to rest 5 months, to have tests, to see if the condition is curable, to see if the device can be removed, to see if he can continue in Italy?

I mean the rules have been exhaustively discussed and seem pretty clear: you can not play in Italy with an IECD.

I'm no doctor so forgive my ignorance, but surely we should have some indication by now? He couldn't do those tests earlier?

I'm no doctor either but it seems like we're holding out hope that whatever it is, was temporary, and the IECD isnt permanently required. This just "feels" unlikely to me, considering Italy is a super rigorous country with heart monitoring etc already, if he's been healthy to date, the fact that it happened would (logically, not necessarily medically?) make me worried that it'd happen again without warning.

From the club's perspective, his wages and amortisation are covered while he's here, so it makes no difference to us financially if we wait to see what happens ultimately. I think realistically we wont see him playing again in Italy - maybe at a pinch in Ajax - but the cost of waiting is nothing for us right now

He had a cardiac arrest, which, from what we know publicly, the cause is unknown. Because of that, he won't have that ICD removed.

if i am a club there is no way i am sending Eriksen on the pitch ever again. It must suck, but i wouldnt risk it.
