the statistics are what give us the truth, ultimately. It's not like our youth team has a good record of producing players, either - I would rather we played the law of statistics with everyone above 18 and start to cut harshly rather than keeping people like Mei, Andreolli, Longo on the books long long after they've developed into nothing. If we had a track record of developing players, then I'd say fuck the statistics, let the expert do their job. But so far, our track record is dropping Ca$h on people like Colidio, Tassi, etc, who make less impression than a fart in the wind.
We can talk about hidden talent, but there are *so few* examples of it. IIRC, not a single one of our current team were not starting at a top flight team when they were 20 or 21. I haven't, but I'd bet you could do those numbers for any major team and you'd find similar stats.
As I always say, football is a cruel sport, you can afford one bad season but that's about it.
The only other player I can think of who has 21/22 without ANY first team experience at all, anywhere, is Gabriel (The ex Milan keeper who made his debut for Brazil).
If Satriano wanted a proper career, this or last season needs to be his breakout season. He should have pushed for a loan.
Remember, its not just about talent. As football gets bigger, and money increases, more people want to move into the sport. Talent becomes less important - thats why the unprofessional but talented footballers are so much rarer than they even were 10, 20 years ago. Because EVERYONE is talented now, it comes down to work rate and experience. Look at Mulattieri as an example - he's 4 months older, and will probably close this season with >5000 minutes of professional top football. And he's REALLY impressed in those as well - 18 in 30 in his first professional season, 5 in 4 in this season in Serie B.
