We have a ton of expiring contracts here but not enough funds to replace them all, assuming we want to eliminate everything from our books.

From a sporting point of view, that'd be absurd. From a financial point alone, it frees a lot of money and unfortunately we have people who care more about the financial side of things.

Expiring:
Arturo Vidal* ~8.5m
Ivan Perisic ~9.5m
Samir Handanovic ~6m
Marcelo Brozovic ~6.5m
Matias Vecino ~4.5m
Aleksandar Kolarov ~3m
Andrea Ranocchia ~3.5m
Danilo D'Ambrosio ~3.5m
Alex Cordaz ~0.5m

*There's an option with Vidal, assuming we don't take it of course.

This is pretty slightly over 1/3 of our entire budget somehow.
We have a gross expenditure of around 125m, excluding Eriksen. Our expiring contracts make up 45m of that.

Hmm!
If we are able to keep the same expenditure (wages plus amortisation) we could take someone like Frattesi or Ricci with the money we spend on Vidal plus Vecino.

interesting to see whatever the owner will do, nine players nearing expiring contract soon in 2022, meaning nine players will go from this club soon, what are they doing to face this problem, the owner still have want to improve this club with new signings, a new goal to win scudetto or reaching top four only, or disband this club like Jiangsu Suning (their owned), Chievo Verona, and Suning Gaming (their owned e-sport team).

Lets decouple ownership from our activities. We might change owners, but thats a separate question

On that list, I expect Perisic, Handanovic, Brozovic to be renewed, with Perisic and Handanovic on a lower salary. Vecino, Kolarov, Ranocchia, DAmbro, Vidal and Cordaz to be released.

Onana coming in, we need 5 signings to give us a full squad. Realistically, in midfield, we could get away with replacing Vidal+Vecino+Sensi with 2 players. DAmbro, Kolarov, Ranocchia can be replaced by 2 players as well imho.

Pirola/Vanheusden, a bosman CB (for arguments sake lets say Romangoli), Frattesi, Nandez, and sign say Raspadori as a Sanchez replacement.

Ownership wise, I'm not too fussed, I expect they probably will sell us as the debts are a bit unmanageable. It's laughable the idea that it even disbands - Jiangsu was well under water with massive debts and income that didnt match its expenditure. We're in the CL regularly now (will most likely qualify again this year), we've got good income from Serie A, matchday, etc etc. This club can be financially healthy with some work. Net assets wise we're in a strong position too, our first team is worth quite a lot.

out of all these players only Brozovic is a priority. Even if Perisic leaves, we can get Kostic and Vidal can be replaced by Frattesi. For others we already have options in Agoume, Zinho and Pirola. I am sure Handa will also extend if asked and so will Cordaz, if we really need a club trained player. So i am not worried at all. My problem will be if we start selling star players.

I think that Handana won't extend as he doesn't want to be a second fiddle.
I'm worried about the attack. Sanchez will leave, and Dzeko won't be so reliable as a starter next season, I guess. Correa also does not give me vibes that is capable to carry our attack, so we gonna have only Lautro. If Marotta does not sell him in the summer.

Handa being second choice is not 100%. Onana cant retake his starting position from a 38 year old nobody which is pretty weird for a goalkeeper thats supposed to be great.
Scamacca will probably be Alexis replacement.

We will probably offer him 1.5-2m, which is more than what every team outside of the top 4 + rube is paying for their starting GKs.
He's retired from NT team, so there will be little motivation for constant playing time.
It's best from him just to extend and chill at Inter and become a GK coach at some point.

Signing Onana will prove to be a mistake.

Ranocchia is OK for a sub. Same as D'Ambrosio.

As was mentioned, the priority is Brozovic. Next are Perisic and Handanovic. I really like Vidal but his salary hits us hard.

Eh. Unless we give him outrageous wages we should be able to sell him for something if he flops. Auto capital gain.

This will only be accurate if we find out soon enough and we don't miss out on a great option just "because we have Onana, let's give him time".

He's not going to suck or anything, but he's not going to be part of the great names we've had in the past. And I have some very bad memories from the "Frey season".

Damn, you're not even going to give him a couple of games ?

But I think in this modern age there aren't many elite-level keepers, I'd take prime Handa over any keeper today (maybe Neuer) the rest are lacking in one area or another. What I especially like about Onana is his assertive, take charge personality. He'll fuck up but bounce right back. That's important for a young keeper. And a match winning one. Mistakes will happen but Onana has the confidence and self-belief, as long as he's willing to learn, it should be all good.

But whatever way you look at it, this is a great acquisition for us, when you consider Kepa went for 70M. What were the alternatives?
