I figured it would end like this. The Bears had absolutely nothing to play for, so why would they even care about winning??

Because it is the Packers, they hate each other, there's no way you can say the Bears were not trying dude. The game was close for so long. If they didn't care they would've pulled their starters mid way through the game or even went with backups from the start, they were guaranteed 2nd seed due to the Falcons win earlier.

They only managed to put up 3 points because the Packers were fighting for their lives and have a great defence.

It was old school low scoring football, look at how disappointed Lovie Smith was at the end that they had lost.

Did you even watch the game or were watching the Giants Skins game?

Lol whatever you say bro. The Bears only loss, besides Sunday, in their last 9 games was against the Patriots. They beat the Eagles and the Jets in that streak. They scored 38 and 40 points in their 2 games before Sunday, but if you want to believe they really cared about the game and only managed to put up 3 points, then go ahead. There is no winner in this argument, because we cannot be inside the players mind, but its just common sense to me...

Just seems every time something bad happens to one of your teams you blame underhandedness ;). I don't think that was at play here and neither does Jamsie and both of us watched it. I'm no expert on NFL but you can tell from the attitude of the players, and Jamsie knows NFL pretty well so I respect his judgment. As I said, you can still follow the other New Jersey team anyway and its probably for the better anyway as the Giants seem to be a bit of a sell-out, claiming to be from New York but playing in Jersey :p.

Haha whatever you say guys. We'll see how good that defense is when they go to Philly. Packers probably still have nightmares about Vick.

What was it, 175 yards passing and 103 rushing?? This time the result may be different...

That's alright man, we just won a few years ago, plus made the Super Bowl in 2000...the Pack haven't sniffed that trophy in almost 15 years!

By the way, if you are going to follow the NFL, brush up on your history...the Giants played in the Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium before moving to the Meadowlands, that is why they are called the NEW YORK Giants.

Yeah, but Wimbledon played on Wimbledon Common, at Plough Lane and at Selhurst Park before moving to the National Hockey Stadium, then Stadium:MK and they changed their name to honour their new abode.

Yeah, look how the coach, who cared enough to play his starters for the whole game, was. The players were clearly looking past this game into the playoffs. They don't have the background of the history surrounding the rivalry. This was just another meaningless game and they played like it.

Also, Chelsea FC doesn't play in Chelsea.

Bullshit did they play like it was meaningless. Of course they know the rivalry, the fans and coaches would stress that to them. What planet are you living on if ya think the players aren't aware of the oldest rivalry in the NFL. Do you think they grew up not watching football or something? When Lovie Smith took over as head coach he said his aim was to beat the Packers and win the Super Bowl, he specifically put beating the Packers as his number one objective and your trying to say they didn't care.

Also to Vito, ya never answered my question, did you even watch the Bears Packers game?

You keep bringing it back to Lovie Smith. Obviously he cares. Obviously the owners and fans care. How many of the players grew up hating the Packers? The players get the same game check, whether it's the Packers or not. They're not gonna play extra hard (or hard at all in a meaningless game) just because it's the Packers. You're putting way too much faith in the players' intentions.

I brought it back to Lovie Smith because if his whole mantra is to beat the Packers that is going to be impressed on the players. Wouldn't say many of the players grew up hating the Packers, if any, but they definitely grew up knowing of the rivalry between the two, which you suggested earlier they didn't. Obviously the players will get paid the same for each game. I'm not putting too much faith in players intentions, I seen the game and they were trying their best.

You can say it was a meaningless game, in terms of what the result meant that this true. But this was the players last chance to impress the coaches in a game before the playoffs, their going to give it 100%.

Also Vito made the point that the Bears scored big points in their previous 2 games and because they only scored 3 yesterday that they weren't trying.:palm: The Packers have held 6 teams to single digit scores this season including the Bears, suppose those other teams weren't trying either.:rollani:

Anyway I'm fed up with this argument about whether the Bears were trying or not, I seen it and IMO they were trying their best to win.

Neither of these teams have a chance of dethroning the Champs so lets not waste any more time, or valuable web space on them. Who Dat!

I find it hard to belief that the players follow everything Lovie Smith says 100%. Are the starters (who are guaranteed to play in the playoffs) need to impress their coach? No. They're more worried (rightfully so) about getting some physical and mental rest before the playoffs.

Also Vito made the point that the Bears scored big points in their previous 2 games and because they only scored 3 yesterday that they weren't trying.:palm: The Packers have held 6 teams to single digit scores this season including the Bears, suppose those other teams weren't trying either.:rollani:

Those teams were the Bills, the (New Jersey :p) Jets (who also held the Packers under 10), the Cowboys, the Vikings, and the Lions (still managed to lose). One team over .500, who were in the midst of a mini-disaster.

Sorry, I thought a forum was a place to discuss, spread, and argue ideas.

It is but I'm fed up arguing it, I watched the game and the Bears players tried their best to win, so its simple the argument is over for me. We're arguing over reasons why players hypothetically would/wouldn't play when it's glaringly obvious to anyone who watched the game that they did play, so its a futile argument for us to be having.

I will gladly discuss all other aspects of the NFL.

Yeah, they should call themselves Kensington, alongside Salford United. You can't play in one place and claim to be from another. 49% of season ticket holders come from New Jersey, with less from New York, and even Ed Koch said they weren't a NY team. I really think you should start supporting a college team or something cos NY don't have no NFL baby!

An Australian telling us about European football :palm:;):D.
