2-0, meh, Barella being stupid kinda worrisome, else saw heart, saw confidence (no fear), just not clinical in the final third. Inter is just a couple of players away from being a force in the CL and that's up to ownership in IMO.

We were losing with our starting team as well, not sure why you would just chop it off as the lineup we had towards the end.

Maybe focus on responding on what people say and not what you wanted them to say?

You said "we're playing with a lineup". A lineup is your starting lineup. It's doesn't mean the players who are currently out there. I think you should be more specific then and say something like "the players who were on the pitch when we conceded the second of two goals are barely a top 6 side in serie a". So I didn't think you wanted to say anything, you just used the wrong terminology if talking about the players that were currently on the field at that time.

we are qualified.... we went in qualified... why not just send out a team of subs and dudes we want to sell. No way we were going to win. 2-0 and lost our best player. Rather have lost by 50 and gave some youth players and Radu a shot at goal

There is a huge gap between performing well in Serie A and doing likewise in the Champions League.

What is clear, is that this squad, outside of Serie A is limited and no amount of optimism or confidence in what we are presently doing in Serie A is going to change that.

For Inter to get anywhere in the Champions League, the squad requires some new additions in the form of players that can help us make a qualitative step up. I think we also have to avoid buying for the mere sake of adding players to the squad.

One of the big problems we have is our bench. The gap in performance between our starters and substitutes is significant. When our subs come in, there is a huge drop in performance. This is more manageable in Serie A but in the Champions League, we may as well stop playing.

The club needs to make targeted purchases of players that offer something different in terms of skill, ability and performance. And that has to be different to the players that are already on our books. It is also important to add that the type of players we need, especially in midfield, will not come cheap and it remains to be seen whether Suning will come to the party.

Personally, despite our history (which counts for nothing) and being Italian Champions, I feel that going into the next round, we will be the Sheriffs and Malmos of the tournament.

Don’t overreact guys. Remember what happened during our treble year? Barca destroyed us at home in the group stage and that game actually mattered a lot to us since we hadn’t qualified for the knockouts by then. Do I need to tell you what happened a few months later?

Simply outclassed. Can’t blame our squad though, did their best. Madrid is really out of our level in terms of mentality in the UCL.
Yup. Madrid is already running away with La Liga and they’ll be one of the favourites for the CL. We’re a good team but not on the level of Madrid, Bayern or the English giants. Let’s just hope we don’t draw any of them.

17 shots, 4 on target, 49% possession, 91% pass accuracy, 7 corners anda red card.

This truly highlights what the team needs to take the next step. We create many chances as a result of Inzaghi's system. But the system itself isn't going to make you score. You need to have the quality in the attacking third to take your chances. That's where we lack and where we should focus to improve.

In Serie A it isn't as costly. The level is lower, we create even more chances and we eventually score. But in CL you can't afford being wasteful against the top sides else you'll get punished.

lautaro is nowhere near clinical enough tbh. He seems to have really gone down hill in the last year?

I don't think he'll ever be as clinical as we need him to be. The way he shoots is a part of his style. If he doesn't panic and takes a moment to think, I believe that'll improve his finishing and gameplay in general. But he usually relies on his instinct and go for a blast, like that one incident when he blasted the ball with his left foot from inside the box, instead of thinking if there is a better way than nist blasting the ball right away.

Reality check for those ridiculing Milan and Juves performance in Europe. You are in this together, either you rise or you all fall down. Either All Italian teams will perform well in Europe or every team will fall, There cant be a scenario where one Club in a League will do exceedingly well in Europe and other teams suck.

you mean like the 2009-2010 CL where the other italian clubs got knocked out early (Milan - round of 16, Fiorentina - round of 16, Juve - EL)

its true that a stronger league does correlate with a better overall performance, a higher level of play, better rankings, etc.

Its not true, though, that you cant win it without other clubs doing well.

The game was still on when I made the post. It was the 70-80 something minute.
Lineup is the players currently playing. A starting lineup, is the lineup that starts the game, hence starting.

Maybe the clue there was the comment in the same post saying that we outplayed them over both games?
