313 mins this season. 2 goals and 2(?) assists. If we just look at the number, we got a €40M player right there

Given how much shade, we give him, he is valuable against weaker sides and contributes. Good for him and the starting team so they can some rest.

Hopefully this is the game he could transition to Ranocchia's type of player. Doesn't expect starts, stays loyal and on a reasonable salary. When called upon, he'll do what he's supposed to do (with limited assignments of course).

I have said this repeatedly but some hot heads just won't accept it. No team can have 11 Messi or Verratti. I'd rather have a reliable Ranocchia than having to spend millions to find a so-called quality backup player every few years. You'd only end up wasting money and causing disturbance in the dressing room.

every playrr that played from minute 1 by 70th minute was finished that is norm and bench mark for inter this year. everybody is always 1-2 step slower then before 70th minute. was it conte fitness team that got players in tip top shape or not. but you can see it in every game

Realistically he is already this type of player for us, another D’Ambrosio, Ranocchia, etc.

Coaches like him because he is trustworthy on the pitch. You know exactly what you’re going to get every time he plays, even if it’s not exactly of the highest quality. He is a proper professional and I assume trains at a good level. He also causes zero problems in the locker room and seems well liked by his teammates. Let’s face it, here’s here to stay for the foreseeable future.

With that being said the issue with Gagliardini isn’t necessarily that he’s a part of the squad. The issue is how important he is in the squad. He is our 1st midfielder off the bench right now. He has been for some time. Even in our Europa league run this guy was a starter. That’s almost 2 years ago now and we still haven’t really addressed the issue. Vidal was kind of that guy but at this point is he really bringing more then Gagliardini?

We need at least 2 midfield signings by the end of next summer.

Yea I agree with all of you except that he isn't always reliable, there's been stinkers. He works well in certain games and I believe yesterday was one of those games.

I'm okay with him staying here, since some midfield players should leave before he does, but still because we don't really have Sensi ready, we need that quality 4th choice that none of our active bench players are right now - we get the most from Vidal and Gags, but those two aren't a vice Hakan or a vice Barella..

He is fine for these kinds of roles every now and then. And the games against the clubs from Genoa. But that's about it.

You guys are right about this guy. He's gonna be our Rano/D'Ambrosio in midfield. And I guess it's fine. We can't have always better and better plays fill up the backup roles. Because those guys want more money anyway than the guy who can barely play at Inter. They are more skilled and want more minutes. We can't have endless line of these type of guys in the squad. Specially in midfield where Brozovic plays all the time and he's almost never injured. Optimal would be to have Gagliardini as the 7th option to the midfield. Not 4th or 5th like thatdude explained.

Next summer will be a summer of changes in our midfield when at least two guys, maybe even three guys are out and none of those names' is Gagliardini. He will definitely stay.

It's just so infuriating for me to watch Gagliardini play Inzaghiball which requires much more ball control / technique with the ball with one-touch game etc. :D But we just need to accept we play differently when he's out there. Like you guys explained his task was to pocket SMS yesterday and he basically did that. That's already enough asked from him. ALTHOUGH there was this one play when SMS got into the middle of the box completely unmarked and the cross connected him, luckily he one-timed it wide of the goal.

I agree. Take Napoli match for example. Napoli's chance late in the game came from an Anguissa cross who had previously dribbled around Gagliardini.

Gagliardini can be useful in certain games (mostly against Ligurian sides) but he shouldn't be anything more than a 6th option in midfield.

Towards the end of our treble year, we began to start Chivu as LB, with Cambiasso-Motta-Zanetti in midfield. At that time Stankovic was our first sub (for both Sneijder and the midfield trio). The next in line was already Muntari and Mariga. Arguably they were worse than Sensi and Vidal.

My point is that we can't have another team of stars as permanent backups. Those guys won't stick around, unless we are well-off enough to offer them EUR 5-6M/year to sit on the bench.

Gags can be our 5th choice. For our 4th choice, either we recover Sensi, or we get Davide Frattesi. Vidal can change career to become an Instagram influencer. For the Brozo question - given that he's rarely injured - we'll just slot Barella in his place, and have Sensi/Frattesi/Gagliardini for the RCM for a few games. We have to be realistic with our finances.
