You go to buy a car. No one else is after it.

You offer 8 Thousand...the owner asks for 10...but you are in money saving mode.

Knowing you have time, you play the most basic 101 negotiation tactic and you bluff and bide your time.

All of a sudden, the relatively unknown car is put up for sale on the most seen billboard in town.

You lose.

To be honest, 99% of the time, someone on a tight budget will do what Inter did.

We aren't the old Inter to approach a team and give in to their first demand. ESPECIALLY for green South American talent. Right now we are desperate, so obviously the fans will take it out on the management, and this is understandable.

In the end, if we look at it logically and not with our hearts, you will see what I'm saying.
How tight exactly is our budget if we were willing to pay that 10 million on Genoa's Palacio? The whole point of having scouting is to get to players before the competition.. But all we seemed to do was add a target beacon to Vargas for all the actual big teams in Europe to aim for.. 2 million is not a lot of money... and if it actually is to us, then :palm: We sold Eto'o, surely there had to be more than 8 million euros left from that deal.. and if not, where the hell did it go?

I sort of understand where you're coming from on the budget thing though and the attempt to negotiate. BUT understand our frustrations, this is like the 23234312 time that this has happened in the last two years alone. We always seem to be the first one to show interest, we always seem to be "only a few minor details away from sealing the deal", then there always seems to be a "CLAMOROSO!!! <insert club name here> has join the chase", this is then followed by members here saying "It's probably goal.shit posting bullshit, we're definitely gonna sign him". The player then indeed signs for that club and we are left licking our sores whilst other make excuses and we then read that we were either a few million dollars away from signing the player/we decided that the player doesn't suit our team's plan,/our offer was laughable/we're saving our money for when Pep comes in the summer of 20andnever/we're preparing a 30 million euro bid for Lucas:pokerface:..

We then go pursue crappy ass Genoa players who don't even start for them, and are suddenly willing to pay whatever price Genoa asks for them.. If it weren't for Zanetti we wouldn't even have signed Alvarez over Arsenal, and I'm pretty sure Arsenal are happy they didn't make that mistake, anyway. LIke could you imagine this guy in the EPL? He makes Cambiasso look like Usain Bolt FFS.. we need to add speed to our game, yet we sign someone who is slower than Rafa, probably.

It's not a matter of spending large amounts of money stupidly, that's the last thing we need, it's a matter of these continuous stupid and unnecessary purchases that we could have almost certainly have done without, whilst we become stingy bastards for the players who would actually add something and make a difference to this team.. I seriously have to wonder why the fuck Branca was actually vacationing during the height of summer anyways.. I know he's not a scout but seriously, how does this even get authorized?

Abour Vargas, this is what happened, my friend from fcinternews just told me:

"Inter offered 7 mils for Bargas month ago. Uni de Chile wanted 10, but because no other team was officially interested, Inter negotiated. They knew they can get him for 7-8 mils, but never thought Vargas will set South America on fire, and someone else will offer more money in matter of days. That happened and Inter made mistake, for not offering 2 more millions, they lost the player"

So, we lost him because of 2 mils..

Well that's a stick in the craw... :depress:

You have to credit Napoli though. I think Lavezzi could be the one guy that could want out in the summer, especially if they don't make the CL. You can bet your ass that Man City or Chelsea (maybe even Inter as we've been heavily linked to him before) will offer big money for him too. So what does Napoli do? They buy his possible replacement for a fair price and get 25-30m for Lavezzi in the process whose salary will be a mere fraction of El Pocho's. That money can be spent adding more depth to their squad and voila; that's how you run a modern football club.

Lavezzi already asked to move, someone with a gun robbed his GF few weeks ago. De Laurenis said he wont let him go now, when they passed the hardest group in CL.

I am certain he will leave in the summer. If we can get him, that would be great. But i doubt.

TBH, I'm not a fan of Lavezzi nor Rossi

For their price we can get Lucas or Gotze

I like Lavezzi, but i'd rather see the money spent on getting Lucas also. Wether it happens or not we just simply don't know.

Alvarez was a mistake?:chan:

Sure, he's young and has to get used to Italian football, but he's already shown what he's capable of. Sit back and give him some time to adapt and find his game...

i agree, hes hardly had a chance and hes been decent considering the general state of the team atm. do people expect to come into a struggling team from a different league, hardly get a game and work wonders?

For me, Moratti has the right idea BUT Branca has to go.

He simply doesn't have the savvy of some of the other transfer "gurus" out there. I don't care that Napoli paid €15m for Vargas as that is a stupid sum of money for a player in his best season in the chilean league

€13.6 million tbh, and he played not just in the chilean league but he was keyplayer in one of best teams in south america. at the end of the day they won the copa sudamericana with 4 against 0 on aggregate. not to be bragging or anything but it is what it is. :awwwyeah:

chilean league is not that weak tbh, could compare it maybe with the dutch eredivisie. not that strong but not weak by any means
