Seriously? I always thought it was close to 18. Maybe that was the rumor before he joins them.

According to Tuttosport, Inter has taken Handanovic at the price of 14 mil. But it can be reduced by including Faraoni or Juan

Why? Handanović is a quality GK, 5 years younger than Cesar and would not even come close to wages Cesear is making. Love Cesar to death but the quality gap between them is not really that big.

Btw people, does it seem to you that Inter is trying to get rid of Brazilian players this mercato badly? Maybe Strama detected that they are not a good locker room influence or something. Lucio, Maicon & Cesar on their way out.:eek:kay:

I don't mind the potential buy of Handanovic from the standpoint of he is younger than JC. Jury would still be out on whether his wages/contract will be cheaper than JC's. Would have to think if we are buying him outright, he will still have a hefty contract in the same range as JC, especially if he is moving on from a club that will be competing in the CL.

I understand that Handanovic has been rated one of the better GKs in Serie A. JC does mean a lot to the club, but he has not been the same the last couple of years, and I cringe every time a player goes in alone on him as it seems he is not aggressive enough in his challenge or he mis-times the challenge (the one exception was the challenge on Boateng in the derby where he was inch perfect and got jobbed). The only way this potential move makes sense is if we have something in the works for JC at a decent sale price that has not been reported/speculated and if the Handanovic wage comes in much lower that JC's current wage.

I just think that Viviano is a real good talent that we might be overlooking and we don't have to buy his full card. Prior to the ACL injury, I though he played well for his various clubs, especially when Buffon was injured with the national team. Even though (I think) he let in a bad goal similar to what Handanovic allowed against us last season, that was with Viviano in the process of recovering from his ACL tear. What is it that our management has against Viviano? Is it something medical about the knee? Is it his attitude? Does he want to play for Inter or not? Something doesn't add up with his situation and Inter.

Handanovic would definitely not get 4,5m€ annual salary contract. Maybe half of that. I don't believe we've locked Handanovic. It doesn't make much sense to splash 14m€ for a new keeper unless there is indeed a deal for JC to get sold.

I think when it comes to Viviano, our management simply don't see him developing into a star GK.

The Brazilians are being sold since they are the only ones with any resale value and are overpaid/old. Our Argentines wouldn't find any buyers.

The only thing bumming me is that till now there was an Argentine group and a Brazilian group in the dressing room which balanced things but without the Brazilian group, the dressing room could get bit polar. Our Argentines are all very nice and professional I'm not comfortable with such a dominant influence.

Good point, just like quality gap between Handanović and Viviano isn't that big. And in that way we're saving a lot. Everyone forgeting that Viviano was Buffon replacment two yrs ago and only injury throwed him out from NT (losing form).

Don't really agree. I've always thought Vivano is pretty average and not a long term solution for us. Handanović on the other hand is, we would be getting a quality GK for 5,6 years.

Buffon's injury has actually put Viviano in the NT. He would be by no means starting over Buffon. Nor he can replace Cesar.

I'm all against selling Cesar, i've said it before, will say it now, he is more than just a GK for us. But if we DO sell him, then Handanovic will be the best replacement we can get, probably one of the best GKs in the past few years in Serie A, arguably the best. Last year the best for sure. 14 mils are bit steep, but if we look into the transfer market and how much players are worth, it isn't THAT bad.

We will see what happens, I still doubt this whole saga is true. I doubt we can find a club who can afford Cesars wages, and all big clubs don't actually need a GK. So i'd keep it reserved.

Are you kidding me...gap between Handanovic and Viviano is very very big....Viviano was talent a few years ago but nothing more..currently is mediocre GK...Handanovic is one of the best goalkeeper in the world....he is best GK in Serie A and this in team who plays very offensive...For me JC is really still very very good Gk, but if u compare JC 2 years ago and now...you know then... ;)

cant we try to extend cesars contract till 2016 for something like 3 million per year, seriously spending 14 million on a position we have no need in is downright stupid even though I am against cesars high wages

We can afford to give Udinese 14M for Handanovic but not 15M for Isla? :palm:

This is just unnecessary. I do think Handanovic is the third best keeper in the league (behind JC + Buffon), but goalkeeping years and outfield years are totally different. At 32 he still has many years left in the tank. Edwin van der Sar was still going strong at 40. There is no need for us to purchase Handanovic, whereas we are in desperate need of reinforcement in all defensive positions + a world class LW. If this is legit then Branca has got his priorities all fucking wrong.

this will be a slap in the face to all those who defended branca saying that we cannot simply move for isla without shifting maicon, now see we are spending 14 fucking million for a goalkeeper when we already have a very good goalkeeper with no apparent interest from any teams.:palm:

I'll say that I like Handanovic a lot. I think he is much better than Viviano, and over the past few years has been more or less on par with JC. Better at times, worse at times, though overall I'd still take JC.

But with that said, spending 14mil on a fucking keeper right now is god damned idiotic. There's no way we're doing that. If we're really going to give up part of Faraoni or Juan, we could do so to get players that we need far more than Handanovic.
