Palacio is our most important player. We have absolutely nothing going on for us offensively without him. We can score against Stjarnans, but in Serie A or latter stages of EL, we needs his creativity to link midfield to attack.

Not only does he provide a vertical link b/ween midfield and attack, his drifting also provides the very little attacking width we have, since we play with no wingers.

This.

We can't really expect Palacio to play all matches in Serie A, Coppa and EL.

Are we sure that Thohir doesn't plan to spend even if we don't get good money for guarin - if any, (not trolling) just think it is possible he decides to spend on a striker I don't think him spending 20mil is totally unreasonable, I'm also not saying its going to happen just we don't know his patterns and habits as we have only had him for less than a season. All this low balling on previous transfers in the summer could be so he has saved for one big transfer, still 8 days you never know. I'm just crossing my fingers and balls hoping it happens.

No, Fap really has a point. Palacio's movement is such a huge asset to the team. Without it our attack looks incredibly mundane. Icardi especially benefits when Palacio is on the park.

And even then, I remember myself and others talking about how isolated he was last season

Palacio should be either sold or benched this season.

He is a very smart and good player, but he wont lead us to anything more than what he did last season.

Lots of people love him here, because of his shy persona and out-of-the-planet-and-super-ultra-modern-hairstyle, but the dude has to either go or warm the bench.

Im still waiting for that attacker to join us, i dont care if its gonna be Lamela, that young brazilian guy from germany that you guys here wet your panties, Cerci or Pato.

So one of the above + Icardi = byebye Palacio.

Too lAte to sell him. I would love if we got rid of him because of his age but you are forgetting he has been our best player since we bought him. At his age he is a ticking time bomb till he sucks and is our new Milito(end of career)

I mean if he went as part of the Cerci deal that would be awesome. He is our only proven striker and only guy who can pull magic from his ass to get us results. Dude is our only game changer.

Palacio will start regardless who we buy. It's just for how long? I rather cash in on the older players before it's too late.

I rate Palacio as highly as anyone in this forum. I think he is a better player than Lavezzi and have said so numerous times. I also realize he is probably still our best striker despite being on the wrong side of 30. But thedude has a point.

We shouldn't be looking to sell Palacio, but IMO we should certainly be looking for someone who can bench him. I thought that's what his whole Cerci/Firmino thing was about? I hope people weren't hoping to see Cerci/Firmino - Palacio. And if you are even entertaining the thought of a three man frontline we have nothing to talk about.

GDS reports that papu gomez might be our low cost option.

i would rather have botta play with us than this gomez dude. beside we also have alvarez who could play as SS. gomez wont add much and just a waste of money.

A couple of things to remember when it comes to buying new players with outright cash: We are still paying for hernanes' transfer from last winter, a transaction that was carried out mostly because of bank guarantees, and not a straight cash transaction. Also, we need to be saving up on buying back some of the players we have sent on loan, almost all have slightly higher buy back options.

A good chunk of the revenues we get from selling Guarin/Alvarez will go to the above transactions, and not necessarily to buy a new replacement.

Good news is we are significantly below are salary cap for this season, and we can offer our new recruit a good salary.

Gomez... He was doing really well in Serie A a few years back. Not sure how he's doing in Russia, but I'm guessing since I've heard little about him he hasn't done too well.

I'd take him, if cheap.

It's Ukraine, not Russia.
You've heard little of him because his team was thrown out of European competitions due to match-fixing or some other scandal. He wanted to go back to Italy ever since.
In 23 league games played, he scored 3 and assisted 6.

I would take him if cheap as well and I assume it would be cheap as many foreign players are forcing their way out of Ukraine.

Firmino is a very versatile player that knows how to dribble, is not slow, his shooting is good and knows how to assist. The full package.

I also think we have no chance of signing him because many clubs want him.

I'd definitely take Gomez. Even tho he really stalled since moving out of Serie A. Was huge fan of his before moving to Ukraine.

He was ready for a bigger jump. But he made the poor choice of moving to Ukraine (well, his agent rather than him). He should've moved to Spain when he had the chance.

He hasn't become the player he could be, but can still be valuable option for us. Obviously i won't be happy with him being our main signing, but he is good option.

I don't know where he'd play at this Inter tho. He is not an SS, he is pure winger. He could work as wing back as he has high workrate, but i am not sure of his defensive skills, so...

All in all, i think it's bullshit rumor.
