My list of affordable players who are either lwbs, have played as lwbs above average success or have the ability to play as wbs.

1. Robin gosens (Atalanta)
2.Angelino (Leipzig)
3. Raphael Guerrero (Dortmund)
4. Jordi alba (Barca)
5. Filip kostic (Frankfurt)
6.Alex telles (Manutd)
7. Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)
8. Philip max (psv)
9. Nicolas Tagliafico (Ajax)
10. Leonardo spinazzola (Roma)
11. Maxwell cornet (lyon)
12. Jose gaya (Valencia)
13. Juan bernat (PSG)
14. Marc cucurella (getafe)
15. Darko lazovic (Hellas Verona)
16. Federico dimarco (Hellas Verona)

The above list is in hierarchical order which I made based on the combination of my thoughts on their talents and some petty stats (goals and assist) from this season and the past 2 seasons. Also, don't be too hard on it or try to crucify me for the selections, it's just my opinion, some lazy and off-head analysis from me. Just wanna know your thoughts on it

Great list. My thoughts on the players you suggest:

Robin Gosens - Excellent option but it's reported Atalanta want 40m. I can't see how we can afford him.

Angelino - He's having a great season with Leipzig and he would be very expensive. The time to get him was in January 2020 when he joined Leipzig on loan with 18m option to buy.

Guerreiro - Good player but injury prone. Pass.

Jordi Alba - He isn't leaving Barca

Kostic - Great option. He has been consistently among the top wingbacks of Bundesliga in the last 3 season and especially this season he has been exceptional. But Eintracht would ask for at least 30m so i don't think we can afford him.

Telles - He's behind Luke Shaw in MU but i don't think they are willing to let him go so soon. I would take him on loan.

Marcos Alonso - Conte's dream signing but he isn't leaving Chelsea. He's even starting with Tuchel.

Philip Max - I had actually suggested Max when he was still at Augsburg. He basically is a poor man's Marcos Alonso. Excellent in attack, very poor in defence. But the time to go for him was last summer when he joined PSV for just 8m. If you made a move for him now, his team would demand a hefty fee and he isn't worth it.

Tagliafico - Good player but i have my doubts whether he can play the whole side. He strikes me more as a fullback than a wingback.

Spinazzola - No. Just no. I think i have had enough of Spinazzola with his failed move. :D

Gaya - Great player but he is a Valencia legend and he has shown no intention to leave. Even if he did, he would probably end up at Barca.

Bernat - He's coming from an ACL injury and he signed an extension with PSG only recently.

Lazovic/Dimarco - Out of the two Verona players, i would definitely take our ex primavera kid if we can't afford anyone better.

I haven't watched Cornet and Cucurella enough to express an opinion. I would also add Firpo on the list. His only good season of his career had come as a lwb at Betis so perhaps he could be a decent option. I would consider taking him on loan if we can't afford anyone better.

Btw once again we're linked with Mykolenko of Dinamo Kyiv. Has any of the Ukrainian members watched him this season?

I'm not Ukrainian and haven't watched Mykolenko hardly at all. But against Finland in WC qualifiers, he conceded a penalty (Pukki scored) and a took a red card at 88th minute against Finland ultimately resulting a draw. :p

Swap with scudetto winner Gagliardini.

Can we give Atalanta players?

I’m just pissed he will go to Juve for 20 million + 5 million loan. Teams always ask for a shit ton. You think we are getting 111 for Lautaro? Unless he scores 15 at copa Americans starts a bidding war he isn’t going for that amount

Even though I put gosens as the number 1 and Angelino as number 2, my pick is Raphael Guerrero. Firstly, gosens is an excellent wing back and arguably the best around currently but I am sceptical about his ability to play any other role bar lwb. In this conte era, any signifcant signing we are to make should be made with one eye on the future because of the tendency for Conte's departure at any time, we all know Conte's short term approach to managing a club and we've seen how he ended with his past clubs so I don't need to explain any further on this. For this reason, I am not into investing wholeheartedly into Conte's project this is why I am sceptical about gosens. Gosens biggest strength lies in his aggressiveness in attack which is why he is scoring a lot of goals. If conte leaves (which may happen very soon) we will likely move to 4-man defence and gosens will likely struggle if that happens given his strength, he will offer very little in attack if he is moved as lb, not that great with his crosses but good defensively, he will likely become like wan bissaka. As for kostic, I don't think he will fare well in Conte's system , I've watched some of Frankfurt system this season and their wb system is a little bit different than ours, their system change to 4man defense in the defensive phase so their wbs won't have to do much defending, their lcb drifts outwide and becomes the lb while one of their mdfs drop to become cb so kostic stays up as a winger, unlike ours were our wbs have to track back, in this regard I think kostic will struggle and won't meet Conte's demands. Angelino on the other hand is almost redeemed by Leipzig, we have no chance of getting him. This is why I go for Raphael Guerrero, he also has the ability to play as cmf which is an added advantage for us considering our needs in that department

Telles has been rumoured to leave MU, so it is a possibility. I do believe he has like 2+1 good years in him to perform as a LWB.

Yeah, propose a loan for Telles, if it's analyzed he has enough wheels in him.

I'd take Gaya, Bernat, Spinazzola or Telles if Conte remains and we need a WBL.

Spinazzola would be the easiest to pull as we can exchange him for Vecino or something.

Dimarco of course would be nice, but I think he'll be torn by the fanbase since he probably will be our weakest link.

I'd 100% start to cry if I would see a line up of both Gaya and Hakimi. I'd go so far to say I'd want to keep Conte for years.

Eurosport report that Inter Milan are monitoring Eric Bailly’s contract situation at Manchester United.

They report that Bailly is frustrated about his current situation at Old Trafford.

He has just over a year left on his current United deal and his injury record means it’s unclear whether he’ll sign a new one.

United were apparently hoping to keep Bailly and use their summer transfer budget in other areas but they are now looking at alternative central defenders
Do we need one more Sensi to rot on the bench?

Apart from the fact he's injury prone, the guy is a brainfart waiting to happen. Hard pass.

Not sure if his desire is a Bundesliga move in general or specifically Schalke but even if we assume he simply wants a Bundesliga move i can't see where he could go. Bayern have Alphonso Davies. Leipzig have Angelino. He would never go to Dortmund. Then you have teams like Leverkusen, Wolfsburg, Eintracht if they sell Kostic, Gladbach or even Hertha where he could go. But it would make no sense to move to any of those and they can't afford him.

My biggest fear is he will end up at Juve on a cash plus players deal.

Oh no, entirely disagree with your last sentence there. I would absolutely love him going to Juve, another player to roam the left wing after Chiesa and Ronaldo already occupy the same space. That's exactly the problem with juve's unbalanced squad, too many players playing the same role so while the names there aren't bad, they can't all fit in at once.

Yeah, life long Schalke fan, but never say never.

Valencia need to sell and as Spain starting left back he won't play back up to Alba (still only 32)

Not for sale. Sorry. You're right about Kostic, he's too attack orientated.

The fact that Mustafi name is even mentioned in this thread is terrifying.

But in our financial state, dont know how realistic any of these options are.... Sell perisic bring back Dimarco to support Gaya, one can dream???

Continuing our trend of buying a player from a team that knocked us out of the CL, according to FcInter1908.it we've contacted Lucas Vazquez from Real as he's going to be a free agent in the summer. Bayern also interested.

I guess as Hakimi rotation? Madrid fans seem to have a decent opinion of him as a versatile, jack-of-all-trades type of player. He played well against us, for what it's worth.

I'm all for us getting quality depth like this. Darmian, for example, has been a really nice surprise for me this year.
