This is actually very bad news for us. Not only because we aren't getting Vlahovic but also because it raises the chances of Tottenham making an improved offer for Lautaro.

We ain't selling Lautaro. He doesn't want to move to England, I'm pretty certain of that.

It was easy for Inter to reject all Spurs/Arsenal approaches as the player isn't interested.

Seems like Vlahović is gone to Atletico so we can kiss that dream goodbye
Atletico really making solid investments in their squad this summer with De Paul and possibly Vlahovic.

De Paul was a player everyone here wasn't convinced of right until the copa, for 25m let alone 40m.

And Vlahovic will most likely be another victim of AM's extremely defensive tactics.

But, what if Zhang forces the move? It's pretty much what he did in the case of Lukaku*, whose agent confirmed that Marotta and Ausilio were against it. If Spurs' offer is crazy and desperate who knows what the owners might do.

*Putting aside for the moment that Lukaku also played a role

Marotta against the Lukaku's sale is one of the craziest conspiracies that people somehow believe
This.

Marotta would have accepted 115M€ for Lukaku under any circumstance once Conte left. His issue is that he wasn't given enough funds to find a replacement.

Selling Lukaku for 115M€ and buying a rising star for 60M€ is a masterclass. Selling Lukaku for 115M€ and buying Duvan Zapata is desperation.

Only in the case Marotta could freely use ALL of the money for reinforcements. Not for Lukaku, when 30% of which is allowed.

He should be the first to lose the reputation if his team is weakened eventually.

Agreement with the club only, player and agent haven't yet agreed. Vlaho wasn't worth 70M anyway IMO.

We should've courted Vlahovic after that stunning solo goal in 2019/20, like Bayern do, convince him Inter is the club where he can be a great and win trophies, that way he can get him for a decent fee on the last year of his contract or for free once his contract ends (2023). That's honestly the only way we're going to attract quality players. So instead of wasting tens of millions on mediocre (Vecino and G5, Tonali and Kumbulla) or washed up players (9G, Hernanes), we low-key court quality, high performing players - SMS (2024) Milenkovic (2022) Fabian Ruiz (2023), Villar (2024), Castrovilli (2024) etc. - and just wait out their contracts.

DeFry was a perfect example of this, Eriksen also in some respects (we weren't his first, second or third choice though, we basically just got lucky), now Hakan, hopefully it's the way forward. In some ways i'm glad we're broke, it's forcing us to think with what's between our ears instead what's in our wallets.

That is where you‘re underestimating Marotta’s influence. Marotta is not a sporting director, he is the fucking CEO. Which means he’s responsible for everything in the club from sporting to finance. He has to weight up everything for every of his decisions. If spending big money from the sale pulls us straight back to the financial mess we’re trying to get out, Marotta will be the first one to be against it, Zhang doesnt even need to say anything. Remember this man left Juve because they signed fucking Ronaldo.

Marotta didnt get his reputation by discovering great talents or negotiating amazing deals. He gets his reputation by consistently making the unpopular decisions and they work. In his eyes, nothing is more important than the longterm stability of the club. If going glorious in the market means future problems, he will be against it, even step down as he already did once.

You guys keep saying you trust Marotta, yet you don’t even know what he does. His brutally pragmatic approach is why he’s always a bigger asset to his club than the likes of Paratici and Ausilio.

If Marotta knew he was not getting enough from the Lukaku deal he would be against it.

Therefore, it's not a stretch to conclude he thought it was too late for such an operation.

From everything we know about Marotta he knew Viola would ask more for Vlahovic than Zhang was ready to give him. Some of us here even said so. Vlahovic was not a realistic target.

Marotta didn't leave because they signed Cristiano otherwise he'd have resigned on the spot.
He was fired some months after that. He is on record saying he didn't leave them by choice.

Marotta is the guy who bring Conte and Lukaku.. and unpopular signing like Young, Darmian, and Sensi.

This three are not popular but works perfectly at Inter.

Marotta will bring Zapata because not only similar to Lukaku but also weakened direct Rival.

Correa is Inzaghi request. I think we can get one of this two.

Only signing an Insigne will give us a chance to compete for the championship and finally get rid of Vecino, I'm for this deal

Selling the main starter 10 days before the season start is a terrible decision sporting-wise. Risking CL income is the last thing you should do if you ever think about stability.

Knowing Marotta well enough, but you forget how Pogba was announced only AFTER both Higuain and Pjanic, to avoid excessive milking? He never sold big without proper replacements. He even spoke out loud that Hakimi should have been the last big sell.

More reasons to believe, imo, this striker-mess was from someone caring shit about football, but only numbers. Okay, but ofc you are free to choose what to believe.

He had also signed Dybala a month before selling Vidal. When Marotta chooses to sell a player he has a plan in his mind how to improve the team as a whole. In this case, it was unexpected and that's why they're looking at different types of forwards. They show they don't even know what exactly they're looking for.
