tbh, i kinda believe (at least partially) in the form/class thing for a coach. Not completely - its clear that coaches get 'over the hill' and lose their edge, but at the same time, a good coach can have a hiccup but will generally do well.

For De Boer, considernig how things went at Palace and Atlanta, I just dont see it.

Plus players have hated de boer at inter and a number of those other clubs. That would only get worse I'd imagine at barca

Difference is that De Boer, regardless of his character which is unstable to say the least, came to a hostile environment ["civil war" between pre and post Suning] at the end of pre season, had no clue of the league, couldn't speak the language, didn't know our players and the surrounding crew and expectations were too high due to new ownership.

It was an epic failure.

At Barcelona he'd be welcomed as a club legend, knows the people, the language, the league, had the best squad in the world possibly and would be guaranteed to go far.

Heck, even loser Valverde wasn't considered a huge failure.

De Boer has been affected a lot by failing at Inter. Going to shit clubs like Crystal Palace right after is always the wrong choice. No clue why he went there. That was his downfall, failing at Inter is kind of expected.

How could Valverde be considered a failure when he won two La Liga in a row? If Valverde is a failure, then what is Setien who inherited a team at the top of the table, lost the title and even managed to lose the dressing room in a matter of few months?

You missed the point I was making.

Valverde had no reason to be at Barcelona. He didn't have the resume to be their coach. But they hired him, he didn't fuck up in the league, in fact results were kinda great mostly, but no one was really pleased with him because he's limited. He's not a top level coach but had a top level team.

De Boer could have been this guy. But because he came at a bad time at Inter and made some bad decisions after that, he's universally considered a failure.

Do you think Valverde at Inter would have been a success in 2016? Do you think De Boer would lose the league at Barcelona with prime Messi?

There are top coaches. Very few of them. We know them. The rest are considered very good due to circumstances. If you ask 1000 random football fans many wil tell you that Valverde is a very good coach. If you ask his former crook of an employer in Greece, he'd say what he said 10 years ago about Valverde at Barcelona

Do you think Allegri could've won Serie A without Ibra or Juventus?

I mean Ibra makes Pioli look good.

Depends on what else he'd have, but Allegri was not the reason his teams won the league.

It's too early to make any appraisal. When half season is played then we can say something about Pirlo's effect. Preseason was so short this year so it is like there was no summer brake.
