Wtf are you guys talking about? Valero is a 70 player max? He can't fucking sprint even once and when he does it he still goes slower than a turtle.

I felt he made a big mistake in taking Valero off for Esposito.

Not that Valero or Vecino are particularly defensively competent, but they're at least bodies in midfield. With one of our "passers" replaced with a forward, we lost all ability to retain the ball and build attacks. The last 15 minutes or so were a fucking shamble. We were trying desperately to attack, but we couldn't even link 3 passes together and kept losing the ball while moving it forward.

Furthermore, it meant that we were ultra vulnerable to the counterattack. With all our players forward, all it took was one vertical ball and all of a sudden they were running at our naked defense. Perez completely fucked one of these dangerous 4v3 chances. But they easily could've scored before Fati's goal, and they easily could've scored more after Fati's goal.

I felt we were doing OK until Valero came off. We were slowly getting chances and Barca's defense was starting to give the ball up cheaply. Conte got impatient and decided to force the issue by taking off a midfielder for a forward at the 77th minute. It immediately felt early to me. If he wanted to bring on Esposito, he could've even taken Lukaku off.

Of course, the flip side is that if he'd waited longer and we didn't score, people would complain why he waited so long to bring on Esposito. But I honestly think we should've persisted with what we had, instead of going all gung-ho.

1000%

An extra forward doesn't help when u cant get a hold of the ball or don't have the bodies to press their midfield, not that any pressing happened today anyways, they will prob press in the round of 16...oh wait.

WTF is with all the Conte hate, he did great tonight with our skeleton midfield! I do question the decision to take Valero off for Esposito (should have been lukaku) but it’s not worth the ramblings I’ve seen so far. I’m hoping this is a blessing in disguise where we now just concentrate on the league (fuck the EL) and the coppa.

Conte single handedly cost us the Dortmund away game and also cost us two relatively easy points vs Slavia.

Tonight was not entirely up to him but he deserves most of the blame for sure.
He fielded a very defensive lineup against an opponent with zero chemistry and too many inexperienced players. There are hardly any excuses.
He also lost us the game with his subs at the end of the day. Not winning is one thing, but losing is a whole another story.

This CL campaign has been by far our biggest choke job in the Champions League, ever.

He will never do well in the Champions League, no matter the team he is coaching. The Slavia tie, the Dortmund collapse, the Nou Camp collapse, and to a lesser extent tonight...all embarrassing. I don't feel sad or mad about this CL campaign, I feel EMBARRASSED.

We have our best midfielders out, why does that mean we HAVE to play Borja Valero lmao? Why do we HAVE to play 3-5-2? Why not make up for the lack of midfield depth with a 4-4-2 or similar? We had no midfield subs on the bench, our last 3 midfielders are on the field, 1 of them who is 34 going on 45, and the other who is fucking useless.

No he is not soley responsible, he doesnt miss chances, sitters easy passes and this cmpaign is nothing new, it has happened many times before with strong Inter squads, i remember a lot of similar campaigns, i am sure u do as well.

Also at sone point if ur 2 zero up ur coach cant do everyfucking thing, at some point players have to get over the line themselves. Same as tody, how many wrong plays missed chances etc? wtf was politano doing at the end i mean common. I saw attacks were there were like 6 Inter players against 4 Barca defenders and either they do the wrong pass or over dribble.

maybe a little harsh. I did feel like he pushed for the win, we just didn't have many options sadly. We needed some people on the pitch to step up today who didn't. I don't know how much I can blame Conte for that.

There's no reason to have three center backs on the pitch when you're getting destroyed on the counter and are chasing a goal.

I see your point, but I think 3 CBs is pretty integral to our structure on the pitch. Although given the gaps in midfield I guess it didn't really matter that much anyway..

I honestly can't believe some of the shit I have read on the last few pages of this thread. I think I need to get away from FIF for a little while because I am going to have a meltdown. Reading the threads, all I want to do is verbally abuse cunts.

Some of you muppets and your Conte hate. Fucking embarrassing :palm:

You wanna bitch and moan about how Barca was playing their B team and a bunch of kids? Rakitic and Vidal aren't amongst the best in the world anymore but they're still of very high quality. Alena is no slouch and would be starting at lot of clubs if he wasn't at Barca. Fati as well. Also, yeah maybe Barca as a whole wasn't playing for anything but do you believe these non-starters and kids are gonna lay down for us? They want to prove something to their manager and the bosses showing that they belong at Barca and are more than just backups to the stars.

Then who do we have? Besides Brozovic, who tends to buckle under the pressure anyways, some beer leaguers who shouldn't be anywhere near starting for Inter in a must win CL game. But yeah, blame Conte. He had so many great options on the bench in the first place.

Truth is 4-4-2 is a better way to exploit the current squad.

All you guys have to relax. Jesus, after all these years we are finally playing good football with greater results then we expected, but still you guys aren't happy.

Our team has way too less players to count on and right now we are very unlucky with all the injuries. If Lukaku had a better brain and stayed on line yesterday, we could score 3 goals yesterday. 3 offside goals, a midfield with Veccino - Brozo - Borja and still we played decent football.

Conte is a blessing for us and it is way too harsh to say "He will never do well in the Champions League."

You can't win everything right away, every team has their problems at times respectively need time to get back at the top.

For example Klopp at the beginning of his coaching career was horrible in terms of International games.

Some of you might stop watching real games and just play FIFA ffs.

We created enough chances to win the match. Conte built a system which allowed us to create those chances against that Barca team. It was up to the players to execute that. They didn't.

I don't blame Conte at all for this match. Maybe that Valero sub was not wise, but we had created enough chances already by then. That move broke the balance indeed.

Choke job? GTFO, he had to go with that midfield for two matches and without Sensi for almost full four matches.

Good words by Conte in the press after the match.

Never been a CL coach. That aside, he was unlucky with injuries, hard group, all in all, this is the outcome.

Just win us Serie A.

We had a group of death, and no fucking midfielders.

If you consider we started losing vs Barca and Dortmund when (IIRC) Sensi and Barella came off respectively, it really goes to show the urgency of us doing a Mourinho-style clear out in midfield. I wont settle for less than Vecino, Gags, Valero and probably Candreva out, with three decent replacements.

If we had Rakitic/Vidal, Tonali, and a decent RWB, we'd probably have qualified.

3 CBs is the foundation of the entire team. We cnt go to 2 CBs with WBs, it'll be a disaster esp against Barca with attacking 3. Keeping 3 CBs is the right thing for us

With Sensi, Barella, two better options for midfield on the bench, one good striker on the bench that isn't injured, and better wingbacks...we are def fucking contenders for whatever you want.

Conte has been doing amazing work and yesterdays match just confirmed that. Would rather lose like this (fighting to the end with a motley crew) than get fucked by referees and plagued with even more injuries. While some of you are you fuming, better to set our minds to Serie A and continue to stay in the top3 spots because at the moment we definitely BELONG there.

<3 Conte <3 Inter and fuck the haters. It's okay to be mad, I am too, but I still believe we have something special here. Inter is rising back up and you have to be blind to not see it.
