Crespo calls for Inter focus
(channel4.com)
Inter hitman Hernan Crespo insists the Nerazzurri are focusing on their own campaign rather than looking over their shoulders at Roma.
After a tough month, the Beneamata have seen their lead over second-placed Roma cut to four points.
There is talk of discontent in the Inter camp and speculation over the future of Coach Roberto Mancini, but Crespo is keeping his focus.
“We are like cyclists and we have to look forward because if you look behind you teams can overtake,” the Argentine international said on Studio Sport.
“Unfortunately, we are in a very delicate period as we became the old Inter for a bit after we went out of the Champions League.
“Now it isn’t right for us to think about anyone but ourselves. If we do that, there’s nothing anyone can do. We will get back on track.”
Crespo declared his frustration earlier in the campaign when he was consigned to the bench on several occasions, but he is starting regularly with Zlatan Ibrahimovic struggling for fitness.
“I have been selected less often that I would have liked, but that kind of thing happens,” he admitted.
“Just as the boss picked me lots last year, this year he hasn’t called on me as regularly.”
Inter must travel to in-form Atalanta this weekend, while Roma take on Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico...
Zanetti: No Dressing Room Unrest
(goal.com)
Javier Zanetti says that there are no problems in the Inter dressing room, and that everyone is united in trying to win the Scudetto.
The Italian press has been full of never-ending reports over the past few weeks of dressing room unrest.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Materazzi fell out, while Coach Roberto Mancini is also rumoured to not see eye-to-eye with a host of players, including Luis Figo, Patrick Vieira and Hernan Crespo.
The last straw came following the Champions League elimination to Liverpool, when Mancini announced his resignation as coach, only to make a speedy backtrack within 24 hours.
"The coach has explained his reasons,” Zanetti told Sky Sport Italia.
“The dressing room in united. Now we are all together to pursue our objective of winning the Scudetto.”
Inter have been in terrible form in recent weeks, and one player who has particularly disappointed is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is said to be suffering from a chronic knee injury.
"He has this problem that prevents him from playing at 100 per cent, but for sure he will recover for the final sprint,” assured Zanetti.
"We are calm and serene, knowing that we are four points ahead of Roma.
“Now we no longer have to think about anything, but only to reach our goal of the Scudetto.”
