De Vrij and Dumfries.

Darmian worked his ass off, I'd rather keep him on the bench until Dumfries starts to be tired.

If Thuram and Arnautović aren't ready, start Lautaro and Sanchez and have Frattesi and Buchanan as offensive options.

The worst thing is that we might not have Carlos Augusto for the Atletico game.

I'm starting to get 2006-07 vibes, when Inter looked too good in Serie A with a 17 game winning streak but got shocked in the CL in the last 16 in Spain

This game is so crucial

I was also this kind of fan one time, that compared the past results to make a prediction of what could happen. But we have beat a lot of negative records recently. When was the last time we won at Bologna for example? we can't predict things based on the past, because this team is very special and i doubt that we ever had such a great team. Only the one from 2010 could compete. So it's logical that getting a good result in Spain is much more realistic compared to one time.

The problem is to remove such curse in Spain requiring something quite else than doing so in Italy. We are night and day better than most teams in Italy this season, so even when we aren’t playing well we can win, but we aren’t so compared to the 3 best teams in Spain we are more around their level. Let’s be frank here we aren’t playing well currently and to remove the curse of not being able to win in Spain requires us to return to previous form, but with essential players just returning in Thuram and Hakan I say the odds aren’t in our favour.

We look more and more like we are dropping in form, we have largely peaked in form and this is stark contrast to last year where we first started to perform too late. The way we are dropping it’s inevitable we are going to stop winning even loosing a game soon. We just don’t look as invincible as we did earlier.

Against Bologna it was Inzaghi tactics that won us the game, as he nullified them, but we looked nowhere near as strong as we did a few weeks ago.

Atletico will be coming after Inter with a lot of pressing, they'll man mark Hakan and Mkhitaryan and smother Lautaro once he moves into the box. If Thuram is injured, then Sanchez must be play smart, Dimarco's crossing better be vastly improved, Barella and Dumfries will need to carry the attack. Pavard and Bastoni no lazy passing and if no options are available once they press don't wait, boot it long or out. Else, Inter got nothing to worry about, remember a draw works here.

We need to defend like we have been defending. This game is about character.
It will be unfortunate if we are missing Carlos. He would be very useful in the closing moments, do not trust Di Marco defending crosses.

There's a high chance Acerbi will have to stand in as a LCB, at least as a substitute. It'd wise to start De Vrij, who is fully fit, and either sub in Acerbi for him or Bastoni in case it drags out to ET.

If Atletico can score early on, the game will become thrilling. However, some players might become nervous, which could spell disaster for us

so because of 2 games we are not playing well anymore? less then one month ago we destroyed Atletico. The only problem were the missing chance, but the game could have ended easily 4-0.

G-ddamn 'mate, one of these teams comes into this game just having lost to the 18th placed team in their league and with a 2-2-5 record (all comps) in their last nine games and it sure as hell isn't us. I can easily understand saying "hey, pump the brakes, we're on the road with a slender lead and our opponent has a great home record, exercise restraint", but your tone is something beyond that. You sound downright pessimistic of our chances given our recent (that is, last two games) form while not paying even the slightest attention to the same topic for our opponents.

"we have largely peaked in form"

It's been two fucking games! And one of them was away from home against the 2nd-most in-form team in the league on a rainy field with our star striker purposely rested and we still won! This can't be a good faith argument, you can't draw conclusions this easily on such a small sample.

A month is enough to drop in performance, all professional athletes have a period that they peak in, after they peaked they typically start dropping in performance how drastically that drop is depends on sports, nutrition/diet and training. There no athlete where your going to see them deliver the same output throughout a whole season, that is simply not physically possible. We clearly peaked around November till February, so it’s quite naturally we are going to see some decline at this point. We were never going to keep that Performance and pace it was just a matter of time before we would drop in performances. We might have peaked a month too early.

......some calls a bewildering.

It's not that complex; play with energy and speed, and that means Dumfries/Dimarco as wingbacks - Midfield picks itself, and Toro/Thuram starts.

The only question is Acerbi fitness, then swap him for De Vrij, otherwise Bastoni and Pavard start either side of him at LCB/RCB.

The message is that the team should be patient. There is no need to go all out. It is just another game; play to our style.

How we perform more than two games ago is largely irrelevant, what matters is how our current form is. it’s not particularly stellar, again it’s only natural we see a drop they aren’t some kind of super humans that just can keep up such a high performance and pace simply isn’t possible. All athletes will peak at some point, the staff job is to design it so it happens at the right time of the season, currently we have seen a drop in performance over the last two games and we shown all the usual indicators of drop in performance. This is just to be expected, you are going to see such drop sometime doing the season it was just a matter of when it would happen and what consequences would be of it, we got away with two wins without actually playing all that well.

It’s to our luck they seem to hit poor form around same time, it might be our saviour.

your totaly ignoring the fact that thuram and cahla were missing. Yesterday Lautaro and Dimarco. Imagine City without De bruyne and Haaland. There is no team that could perfome without their best players. Im confident for Atletico, no reason for panicking.

This is the one boys. League is largely wrapped bar colossal collapses, so all focus goes to CL nights.

Dumfries-Dimarco, De Vrij, Thuram-Toro. An early goal finishes this tie.

They’ve been pretty bad lately. They lost 2-0 today to Cadiz. Not saying it’ll be easy but we should be able to get at least a draw you would think.
They are 16-1-0 (45:15 GD) at home in La Liga and CL this season.

So yes, this is actually a real test and chance to gain more respect in Europe. Cause nobody will give a shit how good we played in first leg and in Serie A if we are out in this round.

What is all this talk about Thuram being injured? I missed 5 minutes around his substitution yesterday, thought he went out just for a rest.

Thuram isn't injured. People just assume the worse cause he went of shortly after a knock.
Only guys to be tested tomorrow are Carlos and Arnautovic.
