you forgot that balotelli is 24 and rodrigo 32. like it was mentioned, balo played at his boyhood club while palacio was supposed to be this washed up old second striker who turned out to be smth else. not to mention the physical serie a defenders...

I think it is the opposite. Palacio in the last season and year before that was in the peak of his career(after turning to 32 strikers usually starts to decline). He had the experience and it is said that you can still develop your fitness level till you are about 30 years old.

As for Balotelli is only 24 years old and he should still develope his game. So from Mario you shouldn't expect the best performances yet.

I think we are all being too harsh on Balotelli. There is no doubt he can be a great impact sub at Liverpool, and he is showing some signs of maturity (too little too late perhaps, but he is still quite young). There finally seems to be some realization that this is his last chance with a big team. If he puts in an extra effort, he may be well worth the £16m punt - like I mentioned before, £16m is not big money for Liverpool.

If last night was any indicator, Liverpool need a player like Balotelli for such games. Because for all his faults, Balotelli can still give you a crucial breakthrough in a tough game. He is a wildcard, in every sense.
