Hmm, We have only one player who is irreplaceable in this squad and he gets injured.
As most of you said, If we go only to defend we might be screwed, just like in the group stages match.
So if we want to put pressure on them when they begin to construct their offensive actions, we will have to play just like in the Stanford Bridge game, with three strikers pressuring up high.
But here is the problem: We will surely need both Motta and Cuchu to play a defensive game in order to neutralise their extremely technical players, so who will connect our midfield and our attack if Wesley is injured?
My biggest fear is that the attacking trio will remain isolated from the rest in absence of a playmaker to orchestrate the offensive phase and, more important, the quick counterattacks.
So we don't have many options if we want to stick with 4-2-1-3 :
Either Motta will take Wesley's place, and Capitano will be moved in the midfield along Cuchu, with Chivu playing Left-back, either Muntari or Mariga will play as defensive midfielders and Capitano in the back-line or Pandev will play as AMC and Ricardo will take his place on the wing.
I would personally go for the third option, because I think that Pandev has the best characteristics after Wesley to play in that role, plus I think Quaresma may find some space against Barca and be usefull.
As for the rombo 4-4-2, I'm not saying it might turn just exactly as in the group stages, because we are a different team now, but our formation has been more effective since we learned how to master the formation with three strikers.
Of course I trust Jose and I'm sure he can surprise us again, also I don't exclude the possibility for us to get lucky and have Wesley available till wednesday.
In the end,no matter what players or formation we will field on Wednesday, this game, more than all others, will be won with HEART and ATTITUDE.
These are the main ingredients that we need in order to defeat one of the best teams in the world on their home ground.
And I'm sure we'll have plenty of both. Forza Ragazzi!
