Imho defence is our weakest part (besides GK I don't rate Sommer at all). So saving a huge amount of money for a non-starting midfielder respectively striker is a good thing. Pavard would be the perfect player for our system and our RCB role. Let's see if we really can get this deal done, but with him I see a top4 finish as save and with a bit of luck maybe we will be contenders for the Scudetto as well.

I like Pavard and was among the first to suggest we should go for him. But I think 35m would be way too much for him. And he would be given 6m net/8m gross at the minimum (on par with Thuram).

That’d be way too expensive for someone who hasn’t been able to perform consistently for years. Probably due to being played out of position but the fact remained is that we’d be buying a underperforming player.

Also, Pavard would be perfect for our RCB role now. But if one day we decided to move from Inzaghi, we may find ourselves in a very awkward position with Pavard. As he is not exactly a great CB and he doesn’t like playing RB.

25m would be fair for him. Pavard also needs to be more direct with Bayern and his suitors about what he wants.
Cost is really irrelevant at this point. If we save some money by signing cheaper option, how does that help? Saved money won't be spent elsewhere anyway. Getting a player like Pavard itself would be a boost to the confidence of this team.

This is not a time to be cheap, since window is closing and there are less and less targets available. Prices are high because sellers need replacements fast etc etc. Saving 10m here doesn't help us. We simply end up not spending it then.

I was thinking about this. Pavard at 6M wages and a 35M transfer fee would be the most expensive player in our squad.
would be on Correa level. With Growth Degree, his gross would be 7,8 million + 7 million ammortisation. It's almost exactly the same as correa (14-15 milion/year)
+ dont think the 6 million salary if happens, more like a 5million sounds realistic

I support the signing because this squad DESPERATELY needs more talent in the prime of their careers. But I do worry what this signing will do to our financial position next summer, or under new ownership.
And that would be completely fine. He's World Cup winner, CL winner, World Cup runner-up, perennial Bundesliga winner (obviously). He knows what winning is about.

Best 14-15m annually invested for a long time (at least in advance).

tHERE MUst be something else of why he wants to leave Bayern. Not only not playing CB, because sometimes Bayern plays with back and he is a CB, and when they play 3-5-2 he is the RCB.

It really is about that.

When Pavard joined Bayern Kovac started using him as a cb with Kimmich as a rb. But once Kimmich was moved to midfield Pavard became Bayern's starting rb.

This continued under Flick which frustrated Pavard and he was promised he would finally play as a cb when Nagelsmann was hired. But he didn't play as a cb under Nagelsmann either.

Nagelsmann had requested a rwb, Brazzo was obsessed with Dest who ended up at Barcelona and in the end he gave Bouna Sarr to the coach as consolation prize who wasn't Bayern material. So Pavard found himself playing as rb once again.

On paper it looked like 3-4-3 with Pavard playing as rcb and a winger in front of him (usually Gnabry) but in reality it switched to a hybrid 4-4-2 when Bayern were in attack.

In the following season Bayern signed Mazraoui so they can play a natural fullback on the wing and move Pavard to cb. At first Nagelsmann didn't rate him so Pavard found himself playing as a rb again. In time Mazraoui got consistent playing time but then he had health issues. That was the reason Bayern brought Cancelo in January in the first place. That was the only period Pavard played consistently as a cb. But then Nagelsmann got fired and Tuchel switched to a back 4. Tuchel used Pavard both as rb and cb and experimented a lot in order to find the best lineup for the squad.

But Bundesliga is starting tonight with Bayern playing at Weserstadion and guess who's expected to be Bayern starting rb. Benjamin Pavard

Pavard has never really got into a serious discussion wih Bayern about a new contract. It isn't about finances. He's just tired of broken promises. And that's why he wants to leave.

This makes sense. Even if he got to play as CB at the start of the season, I think the broken promises has just tipped it over for him that he's not gonna renew no matter what.

We just need to make a fair offer for him. 30m+bonuses should do it, maybe little more. That's irrelevant, we just need to get the guy. Good relations should prevail here.

Of the targets I wanted we didn't get Firmino or Kamada, but getting Carlos Augusto and Pavard in the same transfer window would make this mercato a lot better. Hoping it happens, at least we would bolster our defence and we can focus on attack a bit more next summer.

Repeat as everyone said before: don’t believe it until Inter Media releases video or we have official statement.

I’ll see it before I believe in it…

There been too many failed signings already in this market, not always the managements fault, but it dos make one somewhat sceptical now.

Also I really want to see what the price plus wage will be, it helps with the growth decree, but even so it’s another player with a noticeable wage demand and with the clubs financial situation, that dos make me wander if its the best decision.

Then he was close to joining ManU who already had Varane and Martinez and would play him as RB ahead of Wan Bissaka
