From Inter.it

"Whether you win or lose, in this phase of the season when you play these friendly matches the important thing is to keep working so you improve," said Roberto Mancini after the Nerazzurri's two 45-minute Birra Moretti Trophy matches against Juventus and Palermo.

"Sometimes it's better that things don't go too well at this time of the year because you risk thinking you are too good," added the Inter coach. "I saw some good things and some less good things on the pitch today. We will take note of the positive aspects and work to improve the things we did less well.

Let's also take into consideration the fact that it's difficult for the players get the right match tempo in these 45-minute clashes."

Very well said Mancio.

Found this so funny

CRUZ: "MORE PRECISION IN FRONT OF GOAL"
Wednesday, 04 August 2004 00:41:14
BARI - "We had some scoring chances but we didn't take advantage of them. We must be more precise in front of goal. Perhaps we were a bit less brilliant than usual. " said Julio Ricardo Cruz to Inter Channel after the Birra Moretti Trophy.

"Foul play by Juventus? They won't be able to play like this in the championship, otherwise they will finish every game with eight players."

lol, Funny cruz, it would be nice to see Juve plays with 8 players for 2 games then they aplogozie we dont have enough players left, sorry can we skip this game :)

NO one likes to lose, but I think as Mancini said: sometimes its good not to be at our best so he can work on enhancing the less briliant performance.

I believe he is trying many players and lets see who Mancini will field vs. Basel. that is the game which counts.

All for INTER, and INTER for all :) but for sure we are more than 3 ;)

Forza Inter....

Watch it live on Canale 5! I know I would ;)

MoH I though like me you lived in England. How the hell do you get Canale 5?

Yep, I’m in England, and err... Eutelsat Hotbird 3 digital satellite seems to do the job for me

So anyway about the match...Paquale? Stupid mistakes? Inter horrible? far from it! Ok I might have missed the odd 30 minute or so of the Juve encounter ( :embarass: ) but by then Cruz was on fire and Adriano was firing blanks…Don’t criticize the whole team for a few stupid mistake, trust me! If we really did play badly the score wouldn’t have been this flattering.

Anyhow I’m not going to comment on the Juve encounter, since the highlights only showed the goal, Del Piero the unfit crap, Adriano’s shooting wide, Buffon trying to punch the ball but ends up knocking a teammate! & a reenergized Cruz who deserved at least a goal, he was simply exciting, but what does exciting count for when you have Buffon impressing with his cat like reflexes. :sad2:

Look at it this way, the crowd were enjoying themselves regarding the result, Juve and Inter fans all mixing together in a weird shade of Blue & white. They all seemed to be contending on who can wave his arms the fastest for the cameras, would they be this happy if the team performance was as bad as some might suggest?

Let’s talk about the Palermo encounter instead, shall we (Seriously, how can the whole team turn crap for such a sorry *** mistake? Be reasonable people) 2-1 it ended, an honorable defeat is always a good story. So how about it boys and girls, want to hear a good story?

INTER - PALERMO

MoH’s mood before the game: - :wth:

MoH’s mood after the game: -

Line-up according to what MoH saw: -

[4-4-1-1]

------------Toldo(Fontana)------------

Coco-----Cordoba------Sorondo------Favalli

Ze Maria--Veron(Farinos)--Davids--Kara(Zicu)

-----------------------Recoba-----------

---------------Ventola-------------------

Who impressed MoH: -
Ventola – 10/10 – I love the guy! I may have criticized him a few days ago (*cough*Tim Trophy*cough*) but it’s only because I’m sure as hell he can do a lot, lot more for this club. Now that the world knows my love *girly sigh* for Ventola  lets get down to business. The post stopped him scoring, albeit for a short few minutes in a very tight angle on the right, still! He was excellent, I think he could make the World class ranking if he could only improve his upper strength, didn’t seem to cope with the bulkiness of the Palermo defenders (Unless he became a cheating diver? Nah :p ) The goal was scored, thanks to a Davids trademark run into the opposition box, and then Ventola unleashing a sweet volley-thingy on the far corner!

Davids – 8/10 – The pit bull at work, me describing his performance would be a shame and pretty useless. Let’s just say, he still has that determination and charm about him! Not his best performances, but still beats his Euro 2004 form by a mile at least.

Zicu – 8/10 – Zicu is not known for his pace or lack of it, but his Technical abilities. Which he displayed with arrogance today, he was a lot livelier than the disappointing Recoba. Created a few chances, and missed a few himself (He only played less than 20 minutes, but still caused havoc when you compare him to what Recoba has done during this period) Not a great scorer (Even for a midfielder) Nonetheless, he should score those goals, especially at this level of football (That would be his weakness if you ask me) The boy is still good...Please score your first Serie goal! :hopefull:

Who didn’t impress MoH: -
Fontana – 3/10 – His first touch of the ball was when they scored against him, I’m not blaming him for the result, but still...He had two efforts on his goal, and they both went it? Not a night to remember.

Cordoba – 4/10 – A lot of harsh/hasty tackles, not a Café performance to admire

Recoba – 4.5/10 – How can anyone consider changing our captain? Danced his way around a few players (4 actually) delivered a good pass, showed great sportsmanship but he didn’t have a single shot on goal!!! & what use is that when he’s supposed to be a supporting forward? (He did have a few off target)

What about the rest then: -
Favalli – 5/10 – I had to think a lot here, why was it such a hard decision to hand out a 5? For start, compared to Coco’s pace (Trust me, he looked so ******* fast) Favalli was rather pathetic, and since both full backs were allowed to go forward :D Whom do you think was more defensively safe? (Hint - It rhymes with Wowo) So it just had to happen, Favalli was just to damn good going forward. It didn’t take much for the Palermo players to notice that, and it only took 3 Palermo players against our 3 defenders to score their first goal, a long ball forward, a low cross from the left, and Inter are 1 goal down. So how the **** did Favalli impress? For a left back to play as deep as he was, and control play perfectly, shows stupidity and strength…& Gattuso has both, so it’s not that bad.

Coco – 5/10 - You’ll hate me for this, but the second goal was scored when he was trying to pass the ball but at the last moment he lost his balance and fell on the ground quite awkwardly, like a 3 year old would do trying to kick a ball...Come on, it does happen in football, not that much mind you, but I have been guilty of a few :p So why the **** an 8? It’s a friendly, and the focus is a lot more on individual/team talents and not the score. What I meant is, the amount of effort he put in is quite admirable, if he could only do something reasonable with the amount of position/situations he found himself in, other than passing the ball to the nearest receiver.

Sorondo – 6.5/10 – He looked rock solid, but when you consider the result and how the goals occurred, a score of 7 or more would have been a bit generous. He’s not the Sorondo you guys remember, and sadly he will not be a worthy contender as our first choice defender. Very much worthy of an Inter shirt if he can keep this up and more (Hence, I might be disappointed if he is offloaded :D )

Ze Maria – 5/10 – I’m not sure what the hype is all about, any more? He’s supposed to be a consistent performer, but he looked so average as RM? He can dribble and tackle well, which is quite excellent for a winger. I just hope this is not what we are to expect, another average *****

Toldo – 6/10 – Good old Toldone, not at his best or worst. :proud:

Veron – 6.5/10 – Still has the Tim Trophy form; he’s definitely not the awful Veron we love to hate on the Premiership, yet still he’s not the Veron, who was considered as one of the best in his the world.

Karagounis – 5/10 – Karagounis? LM? At least he had the same grit and determination we admire him for, but what use is it if you are tying to fly using your arm as wings and tongue as a propeller? It’s bloody useless, that's what he looked like today…But can you blame him for tying?

What went wrong: -
Counter attacking, if you thought we were pretty vulnerable in Zac’s era you haven’t seen nothing yet. Let’s just be glad we learned our lesson in a friendly, and not in a competitive match. The back line was pretty uneven; thanks to some numerous mistakes and performances.

Who surprised MoH the most: - Ventola, it’s not everyday you get to find out that someone of his potential could have won us the game. He was match winner material!!!

Who pissed off MoH the most: - Hmm...None?

I would like to be: - Zicu (Cause then I would have scored that ******* goal  )

I wouldn’t like to be: - Cordoba

The match should be remembered for: -
Ventola, Davis or Zicu’s performances...Or who ever you like the most

The match shouldn’t be remembered for: -
How pathetic our back line was at dealing with dangerous situations, good old counter-attacking tactics proving quite successful, Palermo being able to convert their few efforts on goal rather easily, Fontana, or Cordoba’s ugly display.

Hmm... Hamed thinks this result isn't good but he understands since it's the first time most of these guys play together.

Hamed is also impressed that Ventola is impressing. Hamed loves Ventola and hopes he can be amongst our striking force next year. :D

MoH, it's too bad that you missed Inter-Juve. :D

Nice report yet again, a typical Moh game report. Keep it up. ;)

:star:

Comment on our scores. It's bad that we lost this trophy, could even win a single win. But that's not a problem. If I am not wrong didn't Palermo win this kinda Tournament last season (when they were in Serie B) which had Inter-Juve-Palermo or was it Juve. But I do remember that we had lost against Palermo then as well (?)

It's a warning sign for us, but it doesn't really matter that much. I didn't understand why was Pasquale given the nod ahead of Favalli and Coco ?
Did Mancini want to save the two LB, as he didn't want to risk them against Juve ? Or is Mancini having a last check on Pasquale, so that he could tell the management to loan Pasquale ?

Lets hope we do well and get prepared for the Champs Legaue Qualifier.
Forza Inter .... Best of Luck next time, when it matters the most.

Good report MoH. Really helped me to know what had happened during the game.

Anywayz hopefully the side continues to imporve (and fast for that matter) for the Basel game. Hopefully by then the players are fit, understand Mancini's system, and are more defensively and offensively sound.

I just want to say THANKS VENTOLA for all the memories! Whether this will be Ventola's last chance to shine or not remains to be seen. However, the forces are definitely acting against him, and it's highly likely that he will be moving out of Inter soon. Still, he scores what looks to be a fantastic gol, and i fully applaud and commend him for that. At least he proved to everybody that he still has what it takes to become a squad player for this club.

And Moh, thanks for the great report. :)

Ciao,
Tim

I too want Ventola in Inter, rather than Cruz. But the reason is not on their performace or their ability, but soley on the fact that Ventola has been with us for a long time and he won't be bad for the 5th striker role. I guess Cruz might shout-yell if he wouldn't get to play that much, but I don't expect such kinda stuff from Ventola (I just feel it, nothin else). Sadly, it does seem that Inter management does have plan to keep Cruz rather than Ventola, or are we planning to have 6 strikers? Wouldn't that be a bit too much

Vieri
Adriano
Recoba
Martins
Ventola/Cruz (or both)

===============

Does anybody have the link of this goal???? :proud:

From what I've heard Coco ,Recoba and VDM were just AWFUL in these games.Coco surely will be sub player next year, after 2 years break he isn't starter for Scudetto team.

Another interesting game by Veron.
