One win and this? :palm: Did you even watch the game? I guess your next stop is the Vecino thread where you can ask where the haters at?

I know right? Things weren't going so good until Nainggolan's goal which made Bologna collapse.

Watching the Highlights again, we only risked 2 times.

The first was a individual error, from Skriniar. He made the assist for the Bologna player (0:40)

The second was not really individual, the player had to much space for the cross. De Vrij got suprised from behind. (2:30)

How is that an error by Skriniar? He cleared the ball right before that blond dude Helander would have the easiest headed goal of his career, whom Brozovic lost there. Not his fault that there was an attacker far beyond the far post, it's rather uncommon for someone to be there really in that situation and it's not like he directed his clearance to him or to that particular spot. And then Brozovic just sits around and let's the guy get the rebound to force a Handanovic save, which also went underrated as he was off balance there and I even read people saying "it was right at him" :alone:

He don't wanted to clear to the bologna player but he anyway had to clear in some other direction. Maybe he was unlucky too, it was not easy.

Fellas we won 3-0 with no striker on the pitch, last season that would've been something out of a fantasy novel. It wasn't pretty but there's three points gone on the board, job done. On to Parma!

I love how Vrsaljko did more in 9 min than D'Ambrosio did in 82 min. Can't wait for him to be healthy and actually cause teams some problema down that flank.

I am not overlt excited about the win just as I wasnt overly panicked about the loss because I am not a drama queen.

What I hate is the logic of the football geniuses, one loss and all of a sudden our manager is a moron and Vecino cant play football.

Instead of getting behind your team you get a hard on to bitch and moan about two bad games. We have 6 new players after a World Cup year its going to take time.

I love the logic, you can scream crisis after a game and call our coach all sorts of things but dont you dare be positive about a 3-0 win away from home.

Fundamental win, which hopefully will boost our players' confidence.

However, the performance was far from convincing. Gagliardini and Nainggolan's presence allowed us to have a better control of the midfield*, but once again there was too little movement off-the-ball, which resulted in a sluggish and rather uninspired ball circulation, to seriously test Bologna's defence.

Things went better after we found the breakthrough, even though we can't overlook the fact that Santander's header went centimetres away from taking us immediately back to the starting point.

* Along with the fact that Bologna's midfield is the worst we've played against so far

I thought I might share a few thoughts about the game:

I was relieved that Asamoah lined up at left back instead of Dalbert. At times during the first half, I got a little bit frustrated with the former. Every pass he made seemed to be backwards or sideways and there was and instance when he and Brozovic passed the ball to each other about four or five times as if they were out in the park. I also felt there were times when we were going forward and he was a little slow in his decision making and releasing the ball. But I guess the most important thing is that we were not vulnerable or exposed down our left flank.

I was also happy to see Gagliardini in the starting eleven. I like him. He plays simple but effective football and makes it look so effortless. I am hoping that we will get to see more of him this season and I think that his partnership with Brozovic is encouraging.

The first half was directionless and nothing but frustrating. I was close to turning off at half-time but we came out in the second half and tried to play our game. Perhaps what impressed me most is the speed of our play. It was a lot quicker than usual and the passing had an urgency and sharpness that I have not seen in a long time. There was also significant movement and overlap play as we attempted to move the ball quickly when going forward.

In the future, I do not want to see Kieta playing up front. Kieta added an element of unpredictability and speed but I thought he struggled. It made me realise how competent Icardi is playing up front on his own. It is not an easy job and yet our Captain manages the role quite well. I was sad to learn that Martinez was also injured as i thought it would have been a perfect game for him to play. I the future, if Icardi is unable to play, I would like to see Martinez playing up front rather than Kieta.

Also, if ever there was a player that was perfect for us, its Nainggolan. He's fiery, tough and determined and adds to our play in the final third of the field. Obviously, he was not at full fitness nor was he at his best but I have no doubt that he will help us this season and the international break will allow him to gain some fitness.

I am by no means saying that we played a perfect game or the that there is no work for us to do as a team, but the signs are encouraging.

Lastly, special mention to Candreva who came on and scored immediately. Candreva bagging a goal made me laugh after he went whole season without scoring last season. He looked sharp and up for it and that is exactly what we require throughout the whole squad: competition for positions and a hunger to play and perform.

I actually like Candreva goal. His touch was sharp and sufficient. That is to say, Candreva has some technical quality (maybe) instead of non-stop throwing in a bunch of crosses. I remember him playing AM one or two games last season?

Vecino didn't turn into a player who can't play football after one loss though.

You really need to get your facts straight before acting like a drama queen.

Oh you are not, fine, drama King then, whatever floats your boat.
