Firstly I this is a horrendous decison. They ruined my weekend thank you very much Coni.

I don't see how this helps anybody. There are better ways to pay respect . Like minutes of silence, donation to a trust of the pope, ect. But cancelling calcio?? :( :cry2:

And this won't help us at all. The team hasn't played together for a week. The bolgona game could have given them some need pratice.

Fans turn on 'insensitive' authorities Saturday 2 April, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thousands of supporters are heading back home after the cancellation of all Italian sporting events and there is criticism on the time taken to reach this decision.

“It is only right to suspend all the football matches, but I disapprove of the timing,” stated the head of Fiorentina’s fanbase Filippo Pucci.

“It was a very Italian mess and further proof that football and sport in general in this country is in the hands of incompetent and insensitive people.”

Rumours that the Serie A and B games would be rescheduled if Pope John Paul II died this weekend had already been in the air for over 24 hours, but the decision was only confirmed early Saturday afternoon.

Many teams – and thousands of supporters – were already on their way to the planned encounters and had to turn back.

This includes two trains full of Juventus fans making their way to Florence, which was turned around at La Spezia and Pisa.

400 Livorno supporters were on the road to Rome for today’s match with Lazio and got off the train to head back home at Grosseto station.

“It was the correct decision to show respect for The Pope’s condition, but the decision should really have been made earlier,” added an Amaranto spokesperson.

The big game of the day was set to be Fiorentina-Juventus at the Stadio Artemio Franchi with a 6pm local time kick-off.

“We had already decided on Friday evening not to use the fan choreography we had planned as a sign of respect,” revealed Viola supporter Stefano Santoni from the Colletivo group.

“I think that the authorities should’ve seen the situation clearly at that moment in time, rather than create such chaos with a last-minute turnaround.”

I knew last night when I went to bed I wasn't going to be seeing any Serie A games this weekend. Just a feeling I had.... knowing the Pope's health and the way Lega Calcio likes to completely screw things up. Only in Italy this would have happened.

While I have great respect towards the current Pope, I still think this was the wrong descision. A moment of silence would have sufficed in my mind.

Just saw that the Pope has passed away.

RIP

Are we sure about this?

Saturday 9 April: Bologna v Inter (18:00)
Sunday 17 April: Inter v Cagliari (15:00)
Wednesday 20 April: Juventus v Inter (20:30)

Logic says that we should play Bologna v Inter on the 20th of April, basically playing today's game which has been postponed.

If they shift all the games, that will be a first.

What's your source Fabio?

Yeah I noticed now. Crap, this sucks, but oh well, it gives us more time between the Euroderby and Gobbi, that's good news.

it always works in the end. With respect to the pope, in Poland (his birthplace) and where they adore him, they had 1 minute silences before the match. in italy they decided not to play at all.

Well back to reality, after that gracefull downfall from the derby. As luck would have it we might get a point in this game. I say that we would attack the whole time pointlessly and aimlessly and make their goalkeeper the hero of the match. He is a good keeper and all, and I remeber him playing for us back in the day, but he will perform miracle saves againsts, us thats for sure. As usuall we might hit the post once or twice and then cry how we could've won the game, but didn't because we didn't have luck. Yeah whatever, we are the only team in the world that don't have luck, everyone is against us, blah-blah. Spare me the drama. We are tragic! The way I feel is that Cuper should have never left....for shame. :depress:

What is there to play for? Those players come and say diplomatic stuff when they know that OUR SEASON IS OVER. I really don't care about this game, I will not watch it, I hate to follow things that head to a dead end.

I hope we can do well, we should believe in ourselves after the derby. I hope Adriano can play a part otherwise he'll be only on the bench for the Euroderby.

Play the primavera team...

The only factor we have over Milan is that they are in the race for the scudetto and they cant afford to rest players.Thats our advantage, lets use it.
Lets rest ours hope theirs get tired or injured...and then try our best to get on that damn field fearless and hit them with everything we got...If we go down we better go down swinging or we will loose all respect for these players...

It's like 2 days after the derby and the dissappoint is still not gone. I think I am gonna miss this game, despite that it will be shown LIVE. I am going to a bar, then disco club. If I get back in time, I might get to watch the 2nd half though ??

I have got no interest at the moment at all for Serie matches, coz of the 2nd leg of euro derby. It's an impossible mission, but who knows ??

I read some news (not sure if it's official), which says that Adriano's recovery is speeding up than expected. Carmen... said that he's recovering very fast than expected. The article also said that there's all the possibility to see Adriano in the bench against Bologna and start against Milan. :fero:

I have been saying that I don't want to see 2DMs' since a long long time, but I am saying it again despite them playing very well against Milan, Roma. ;)

We need to attack Milan, so forget playing with 2DM's again. Karagounis should play there. Or even Stankovic could play there.

KILY ---- STANKOVIC/KARAGOUNIS ---- CAMBIASSO ---- VERON

So, why not try this same formation against Bologna.

This game is increasingly important now. The chances of us advancing in the CL is very slim, so now we need to make sure that we qualify for next years CL. Though, we should of course rest some players in this match.

PLAY BURDISSO FOR PHUCKS SAKE!!!!

And Burdisso not even called up, while Andreolli is. This is getting ridiculous...

And when asked, Left-Hand would probably say, "Burdisso is not in form yet. He has yet to play a match for us for a few months and he is not ready for such an important match."

:rolleyes::rollani:

It is obvious that Burdisso is a quality defender such that he still started for Argentina against Bolivia even though he has played zilch for Inter for the past few months. It seems that the 3M threesomes are playing some mickey on Nicolas.:rollani:
