Cagliari freeze out Foggia

Pasquale Foggia has been sensationally dropped by Cagliari as a result of the Davide Marchini attack allegations.
The club had up until now been firmly behind Foggia in the legal tussle with midfielder Marchini, but today’s developments seem to have turned the tide.
Marchini has accused Foggia of organising an attack on him in a bar in Cagliari, where he was punched and had a chair thrown at him, after they had a run-in during a training session.
“Foggia is not in the squad, it was a decision by the club,” confirmed Coach Nedo Sonetti ahead of the clash with Inter. “He has been given two days of rest and will return to training on Tuesday.”
It is entirely possible that with the January transfer window approaching Foggia has played his last game in a Cagliari shirt.
Although they are remaining tight-lipped, another reason behind the club’s change of heart could be down to the fans.
During the midweek Coppa Italia match against Sampdoria, the supporters chanted against Foggia and in favour of the outcast Marchini. Foggia did not play in that game.
