i wasnt pleased with that game.

i think Veron again was bad. Cambiasso was beaten on speed on some occasions. And the WORST thing was easily Adriano drifting wide.

Theres one thing that happens when he drifts wide, it means we have to play there, and it means Kily and karagounis are taken out of the play.

Adriano should leave the freaking wings to them, cause tonight they had nothing to do. Did any1 want up punch the screeen when they saw Adriano taking the throw in? i mean come on. He should be in the box, let martins be there. and let the wings do what they are meant to be doing.

Not bad result. but there is disappoint.

because it's serious mentality problem at important match. Inter only started playing well when there was less pressure. :scared:

Vicente can't succeed in Serie A, all spanish attckers can't defend adequately in Serie A. In Valencia, Carboni never attacks because Vicente never defends :D

I too thought Carini was maybe nervous when he did that move and the way he froze when the FK was taken. Maybe he was trying hard to prove Fontana wrong, Fontana went too far by trageting Carini.

Well the important thing is we got the always crucial away goal. Don't forget, Cagliari has a superb home record this season and have stifled more than a few teams at the Stadio Sant'Elia. We still have the upper hand in this tie.

Helal- Maybe I'm mistaking you for someone else (probably am) but weren't you pro-Veron awhile back? And I agree with you on Adriano's drifting ways. It's terribly annoying (and uneffective) to see him to do that.

i still am pro veron. But his game yesterday was OK. but last week against Brescia, i didnt like it. he was just giving away passes(setting up their counter attacks) and he was doing pointless long passes.

But even though i like him, i will admit when he plays a bad game. that goes for any player.

Adriano went through this kind of form last season, did everything right just couldn't score, and then he recovered big time. Hopefully, this is the same scenario we face once again.

The line-up was... Strange? Where did Cordoba play? Left back, with Mihajlovic and Materazzi in the centre? Glad to see Carini get a chance though. How did he do? A 1-1 scoreline against Cagliari is not exactly a very good result, but this is the Coppa Italia, and there is the second leg at San Siro, so the away goal is important.

Zola's free kick look awesome! Took one glance at the ground, then just curled the ball to the top corner. Great free kick.

Look people, I know it was a bit silly to play Materazzi as left back but seriosly, given the players at disposal it was the least bad of all the makeshift solutions.

One other option was Cordoba on the right and Zanetti on the left or vice-versa. But that would leave you with a Miha-Matrix pairing in the center, something that had you post these :scared: smilies all day long yesterday, especially considering you were facing Esposito and Langella.

The other option was Kily as left-back and Stankovic as left midfielder. But that would prompt posts on the forum such as this:"Phuck Mancini, why does he play Stankovic all the time, he only does it because he is his friend!"

There is just no pleasing some people.

Esposito and Langella plays more on the flank, Milos, which meant that Materazzi faced Esposito directly. And it was not a pretty sight. I'd definitely had rather seen the Miha-Materazzi duo in the middle than seeing Materazzi as a left back.

Also, you're forgetting that we have Gamarra at our disposal.

Yes, but as soon as they were to see those two in the center one of Langella/Esposito would have cut inside just like they did in the Serie A game. Catch 22, Jimmy.

And Gamarra is not much of an improvement on Materazzi.

Even Miha would have been a better choice as a left back. I presume you saw the game and saw the disastrous performance made by Materazzi at that position? It's not his fault, it's Mancini who seems to have lost it when it comes to defence.

Playing Materazzi as a left back was before the game a ridiculous thing, and when it actually happened, it was even more ridiculous to witness. I can't believe you're defending the idea to play Materazzi as a left back.

And Gamarra as a left back is a hell of a lot better than Materazzi. Gamarra with Cuper even played that position once or twice and was stable in the defence.

Or we can use Gamarra in the middle and Cordoba on the left.

Mancini's selection for his team this season has really left me clueless...

Han, you are clueless anyway! :dielaugh: ;) :p

Jimmy, I am not saying Materazzi did well, far from it, but you not taking all the circumstances into consideration is truly perplexing! Gamarra has barely played this season and due to unforseen events this semi-final has become the most important game of the season. Now, do you really send a player who has barely seen the pitch to play such a game? And what if Mancini did put Miha or Gamarra? The "phuck Mancini whatever he does" brigade, which you seem to be ever closer to, would have a field day!

As for "Mancini lost it completely when it comes to defense" argument, I'll say just one thing: since Inter-Juve(13th game of the season) Inter is the team which conceeded least goals of all Serie A clubs.

Last season, Gamarra hadn't played a single minute during the season. The game Juventus-Inter had arrived and we had almost all of our defenders missing due to injuries. Gamarra stepped in as a starter and was secure as hell and we won the game.

Gamarra is the kind of player that doesn't need to have played a lot, before he plays a very important match. His experience is of great value for us, if only the guy was given the chance!

Playing Materazzi as a left back is the most bizarre any manager can do, when he has several other options. If he can play Materazzi-Mihajlovic against Porto, he sure as hell can play it this time too.

Except that for Porto, Ze Maria was healthy. Besides, we do not see Gamarra every day in training so we can not judge his form.
