I cant believe that people in here hope he retires. Of course I hope he comes back even stronger as an inspiration for others.

Do you realize he almost died yesterday? Do you realize his kid could’ve lost his dad and his wife could’ve lost her husband? This inspiration shit belongs on Instagram and that’s where it should stay. Human life is what really matters

I'm Danish so what do you think? Of course I know what happened yesterday, I saw the fucking match with my own fucking eyes, so stop acting like a stubborn American. Look at my flag and the two letters, DK is Denmark, not fucking Dakota. Ffs.

Did you see the post I wrote here earlier today with a picture of him and his family? Don't tell me this. You are wasting my time.

Yes he did almost die. He was actually dead for a short period. However it doesn't mean that we shouldn't hope for him to recover fully and be able to play football again. It makes no sense to not believe and hope such.

What a guy!!!! Need to wait and see what the experts say though.

Him saying that reminds me of that scene in casino royale film when bond is poisoned and trying to stop it but needs eve green to start his heart and after it happens he asks her if she’s ok!!!!

Yeah he said it to his teammates right when they video called him before the match was resumed.

The fact that he was more concerned about his teammates than himself even through he had a heart attack less than a hour earlier says alot about his personality. His attitude has always been very down-to-earth and he is well respect by almost all.

The Danish NT manager was very emotional when he told the reporters this as it is unimaginable that something like this should happen to such a likeable person. The manager said at the same time that Eriksen is one of the best football players in the world but he is even better as a human being.

Damn, I felt and feel so bad for him. It was terrible to see him like that. He has had terrible 1.5 years, before leaving Spurs and until scoring the goal against Milan.

Never read or saw any worse behaviour from him during this time. Always gave his best without complaining. Not sure what will happen now, especially if the cardiac arrest news is true. Hope he gets well soon. Nothing is more important than health and family.

Forza Eriksen.

Romano - Christian Eriksen to Gazzetta dello Sport: "Thank you, I won't give up. I feel better now - but I want to understand what's happened. I want to say thank you all for what you did for me". Eriksen was talking to his manager who reported Chris sentences from the hospital.

There will be an interview in todays gds.

Very relieved he's ok.

Just out of curiosity, what would inter get from insurance if he never plays again ?

I was wondering the exact same thing. I’m sure there is a life insurance policy on players, that would be the prudent thing to do. I’d assume there is also some type of disability insurance. Disability is typically not a lump sum like life insurance it’s typically paid out over time. I’ve also never seen it purchased by an employer for an employee, usually it’s the other way around.

I'm positive clubs have insurance on their players but not sure how it works financially in terms of their value and wages.

Surely clubs protect their interests aswell as the health of each player.

Note: Found something that states uefa pay insurance on international players. Any disablement will be paid at players wages capped at €7.5m for up to a year. So uefa will pay Eriksons wages until he returns fully fit.

Seen nothing about permanent disablement. If Erikson is forced to retire from his condition, I can only imagine Inter have some sort of insurance policy to cover his value.

I'm definitely not sure, even confident, but IIRC from history, you'll typically insure a player at a set perceived market worth agreed with the insurers. Frmo a club perspective you'll want to reduce the amount you insure them for to decrease premiums. Logically, insuring based on book value kinda makes sense because that's trivial to measure, but logistically I dont see how it'd work with youth, bosman, etc. The point of insurance is meant to be a 'market value replacement'.

I would assume the wage cover is gross not net, so we'll still be out of pocket, but as Erilsen benefits from the growth decree, it still makes a significant impact.

thats just an american thing. In the UK aand I'd assume Europe, its very typical in professional jobs to have long term disability income cover from insurance. At most but not all of my jobs, I have. I also typically have ~4x salary death in service benefits.

That's obviously pay out to the employee, rather than the employer, though. Income cover means Eriksen gets paid and we wouldnt havae to pay him, but as you say, its only sensible for clubs to hve insurance policies if they drop large sums of money on players.

It depends on the country as browha said.

In the UK its optional but basically no "serious" job would exclude it for any company of any real size or maturity. Same way 28 holidays holidays year is the legal minimum but most companies will do at least 33.

It is, as what I know of, mandatory in Denmark for employeers to pay. In Denmark an employee must have 25 vacation days in a year and most have 5 extra days included. Also we have 9 official holidays, some are on Saturdays and Sundays, and most have 3 or 4 days more depending on their contractual agreement. Also we have the lowest average annual working hours in the whole OECD, which was a big reason for me to move home again. https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/emplo...ge-annual-hours-actually-worked_data-00303-en

Sorry, I am off topic now.

I know nothing about heart problems, but I think it's kinda strange that they still haven't figured out what caused it.

Some jerks said it was because of a Corona vaccination - although Eriksen isn't vaccinated yet. God, there are such idiots in the world.

It is not strange at all. Most of times, the cause of collapse is not known unless you are being monitored when it happens. The fact that they have not found anything significant to cause it is actually reassuring it not something sinister.

- - - Updated - - -

BBC saying official diagnosis is cardiac arrest. I wonder if they found what caused it, cus it would almost be better for him and his career, if there is any chance of him returning, to know exactly what happened then to just have the heart randomly stopped on your diagnosis.

The cardiac arrest is most likely due to running out of oxygen. He had a period of time between collapse and arrest when he was lying down and breathing. However, cardiac arrest is a secondary diagnosis. The bigger question is what the cause of his collapse is.

Ah yeah. He was breathing and pulse was there when he fell. Doctors said indeed that the cardiac arrest (heart stopped) happened when they were already at the scene. So how the hell he just collapsed out of nowhere? So maybe it's not heart related?

Many people have corrected me on this in the last few days. Eriksen's heart never stopped beating, he lost his pulse i.e. the heart was beating out of rhythm so it wasnt able to pump blood. Defilbrators arent not designed to restart a flatlined heart, they shock the heart back to rhythm.

I don't know what this means for Eriksen's cardiac health, just provide some info.
