MOTM would be a bit of stretch since it was Hakimi who changed the game when he came in but Eriksen certainly was one of the best today.

He is a creative player, which means he should unlock the opponent's defence. That job was done by Hakimi, despite his fewer minutes. So yeah, not motm, but another 7/10 performance overall imo.

This was the absolute perfect game for Eriksen to take over in the driver seat and be the focal point of the team in midfield as Cagliari afforded him so much space and time on the ball, but he looks more content free-roaming, looking for pockets of space and spraying clever through balls while the other the other 2 midfielder manage/influence the game.

Eriksen didn't have a bad game actually (6.5/10) but I think this as good as it gets for him, content at being another good midfielder in the squad rather than being a key and indispensable player for us. As things stand hes our 10-12th best player (and that's only because we have a disgraceful bench) and thusly replaceable.

He also avoids physical duels which is unfair towards other players who aren't afraid to fight for a ball.

I find this mind boggling, in my playing days if that was a team mate of mine I'd let him have it.

Today he definitely wasn't inferior to the other two midfielders who played well obviously. Moves the ball nicely. Even had two good attempts from range.

As for his set pieces, I think he did it quite well putting the ball in the right area and height. The inability to "clear the first opponent" thing cannot be entirely blamed on the set piece taker, unless it is awfully short, it has a lot to do with the defenders doing their job properly and also if the attackers are able to put pressure on those defenders. Overall, I feel we are quite threatening on set piece this season, and Eriksen has been our main taker in the second half of this season.

I understand the criticism 3-4 months ago, but now he is working hard, playing regularly and showing glimpses of what he can do. I have no complaints. He talent is obvious, and the end product will come with time. Ditto re Sanchez. These are class players, as long as they are focussed and putting in the effort, the end product is only a matter of time.

I liked that Eriksen managed to take two shots. He needs to force himself to positions to do that more. Because no one catches those shots, if they are on target, they either go to the net or goalie blocks the ball to make it a corner or a dangerous rebound.

The lack of urgency is the obvious negative side on his game related to our playstyle.

If Lukaku was benched as much as Eriksen for underperforming last season, then you wouldn't see anyone complain at all.

Eriksen on the other hand is benched for fetishes.
