Is Camoranesi that great of a player that Moggi has the right to ask for Cruz and Cristiano Z.?
I do not think so.
In response to a statement made by Branca earlier today (inter.it), he made reference to no talks being held between him and Juventus for Camoranesi (However, he did not say anything about Cannavaro and Real).
It should be noted that this does deserve some thought.
Cristiano Z. is blocked out of midfield with Cambiasso, Emre, Veron and Davids taking control. Cruz is blocked out of the starting line with Martins, Adriano, Bobo and even Recoba all before him.
This creates a problem for two players of this caliber.
Yet, it is a fact that after next week's game against Basel, the roster will be tightened. Look for numerous exits (or free loan transfers). I do not see how Cruz and Cristiano can stay?
Should they?
Hey, I am an avid Inter fan. It pains me to see any player leave our glorious club. However, these are professionals. They need to play - especially C.Z with respect to the Nazionale.
Therefore, will it make me happy if they stay? Perhaps. Although I do not see these two players getting much time. If there is one player that has to go, I would opt for Cruz. We already have 4 quality strikers whereby our midfield is interchangable with a strong possibility of injuries apparent - especially with Veron as fragile as ever.
In conclusion, as we already obtained those we needed for the team, now the only surprises left are those leaving. In terms of this trade, NO. Juventus can keep Camoranesi. I would rather keep Cruz and Cristiano than let them go to DIRECT competitors. Branca and Mancini are smart men, I hope they do not permit such a move to transpire.
On a final note, as for Cannavaro and Real. I sincerely do think he is on the way. Branca would have commented on this occurence if it did not transpire. I would truly be surprised if Mancini permits him to leave. He is a symbol for our team on the world stage and in all honesty - we need all the help we can get in the back four. I am still not convinced about our defesnse.
This being said, as I write this - I am quite certain he will depart. If the deal does not go through, it is because Cannavaro could not agree to personal terms. Inter should net at least 6 - 8 Million Euros for him. Should they release him for less, I would be quite stymied.
Forza Inter !
