Nothing but respect, he was also a critical part in the locker room I'm sure. He will be missed.

I wanna vote LGI because of love but honestly only a handful of players from the last 10 yeads deserve this.
Namely Handanovic and... blank. Lautaro, Barella and Bastoni if they win multiple Scudetti and/or CL.

Just because we like a guy doesn't put him in the same room as Facchetti, Meazza, Zanetti, Bergomi and Zenga.

There's some players whom weren't here for too long but won a few important trophies and they managed to get in LGI. Then again, this is just a popularity contest and many of us have different opinions but to me, D'Ambrosio is a soul of this Inter.

He's not on the same level as JZ for example, but from the recent history of Inter, I think he can be considered as a legend because he was a great servant to this club, always professional and still was at least good enough. Sometimes being a great footballer isn't enough. D'Ambrosio's character was exemplary to young generation.

I'm pretty sure we can find players like D'ambro from the 60's 70's 80's which are completely unknown at least for me, players who didn't posses the quality but the heart&opassion and were Interistas who gave it all for this shirt. If i had the info about them i would propose to include them in LGI but i dunno. That section should belong to those players, not players just because of the name, i would never include Figo for instance.

Some role players which are inside LGI i would say are Matrix and Stankovic.
The first had won a WC and was part in the squad of 2010 treble (altho not starter by any chance, actually, he was the 4th cb after Cordoba, Lucio, Samuel), and the Serbian was his NT captain, more heart than quality imo. Would not enter if it was not cause of those trophies.

There should be no voting anyway, as it really is just a popularity contest. (fucking Berni is in) Dambrosio was a solid player and a great guy off the pitch, respected by pretty much everyone, but there is no way he's LGI... Actually, idk if anyone from the banter era onwards is a clear cut for that. Perhaps Handa, but thats pretty much it.

If there's no voting then how should it be decided?

Number of games played, statistics like goals scored and assisted, trophies won, how influential he was on our game, and overall popularity (was he interista, loyal etc...). Add some kind of number value to all of those and add them up. We have to look at it combined and not pick one like popularity and decide based on that. That's basically what a lot of people do when they vote.

Dambro for me had popularity and some trophies won, although he wasn't really instrumental when we were winning trophies, he was more of a role player, so as much as I like the dude there is no way I would put him in lgi.

There's no legitimate way to measure influence and loyalty

vex has some good points, but I agree, its hard to measure influence and loyalty, so even I don't know how the system should work. Perhaps just put everyone under former players and abandone the whole ''LGI or Former'' thing... Perhaps vote after the player retires and some time passes... And even if we would use some statistic based system, then Ibrahimovic should also be in LGI, but cause most people think he's a cunt, he just wont make it in, even tho he was way more important than Dambrosio or some other players that made it.
Actually, i thought of something that not everyone will like. Just like the NBA had their top 50 and now top 75, we could also have a list of top or LGI 50 players and then over time, lets say in 5 years, expand that list to 55.

Different people have different criteria. There's no way to have an impartial way of deciding the destination.

There's nothing more fair and democratic than majority of active users choosing the destination.

And there's also nothing wrong with it being a popularity contest. Inter's Hall Of Fame is also a popularity contest. People are overthinking this. We're just a footballing forum. Not the Inter version of Naismith Hall of Fame or a committee of wise Interisti who represent Interismo. We're just fans.

I've made some posts on some arbitrary list of things a player should tick in order to be automatically "LGI" and those who are up for debate are the likes of Samuel Eto'o, who should be voted in for example as a CL winner, or say Brozovic, Skriniar and D'ambrosio from the current crop of leavers.

What's for debate? Their success, their presence and their legacy.
Not the best of times for the club, not much to win, but they've been here a while, in bad times and good, won multiple titles although only one Scudetto. If they had a bigger rome i the CL run you could give them that as well.
Or have some great records that are either tough to break, or join a historic list, those should be added bonuses provided they helped the team win trophies in Italy and Europe.

The LGI list should be based on merit, not who I like and who I don't like.

But it's a forum and it's going to be a popularity thing anyway.

I'd rather vote for a 10 FIF members panel to do a revote of the whole thing between them...

And then we could spend preseason with top 50 all time lists from the entire FIF, using some parameters for eligibility, so that we don't focus on the summer torment we will have to endure with the mercato!

Love you guy but wasn’t a quality enough footballer to be LGI imo. Out of the last 10 years I would put only Handa and Brozovic.

You don't have to measure it precisely imo you just have to know who is your benchmark. So for example, zanetti is a benchmark in terms of loyalty and players like milito, sneijder and maicon were extremely influential on how we played, and you take it from there.

When you have a player that's neither here nor there, aka somewhere in the middle, and let's face it that's the majority of the players, you don't include them in that loyalty or influence category at all.

Don't see him as LGI, none of the players after the Mourinho era are worthy. Icardi and Perišić are the closest, then Handa, Brozo and Skriniar, and in the end only Handa will get in amongst these 5

It's year 2085 and the "who should be in the most prestigious award there is a.k.a FIF LGI" debate is still going on.

Very flattered that you think this forum will be around in 2085
We'll be in our late 90s talking about how Inzaghi almost won us a mini treble.
