It doesn't matter how he does in the next few
games. He's a 22yr old wing back. We'll see what his development is like over the next couple years but as of right now, he's still too young, especially for a WB.
WBs typically take longer to develop and even the top younger WBs today make mistakes like crazy. Even somebody like rafael still makes mistakes, and he's been in development under one of the greatest coaches of all time for YEARS. De Sciglio looks good but also makes tons of mistakes; he just made a ridiculous mistake v Brazil that cost them goal #2. Just think about how Contreao (25yr now) was just 2 years ago....HORRIBLE defending and horrible mentality, yet today, he is much improved.
With WBs, you just have to see the talent and just let them develop. A very, very difficult position to get right and very difficult to assess who's going to be great and who's not. Even someone like Kyle Walker (23 in a month or so), very fast and solid on defense but he's HORRIBLE on offense. Can't cross for shit and still makes mistakes. You literally cannot name a single WB U25 who is consistent and doesn't make ridiculous mistakes. Shit, even the world class ones like Dani Alves still make stupid ass mistakes..
