aha, now I understand what you want.

You want Inter to have this defence:

Paolo Maldini---Franz Beckenbauer---Franco Baresi---Giacinto Facchetti

I'm sorry to tell you this, but such defence line doesn't exist.

The problem is that you want a perfect team, you want defenders that make no mistakes during the whole long season. And you think we're the only team in Europe that lets in goals or have few bad performances. It seems that you haven't seen Bonera, Dida, Zebina, Boumsong, Jankulovski and even Maldini in the derby.

do ppl understand the difference between a random flaw and a systematic flaw??

a random flaw is down to chance, form etc

systematic flaws means the weakness will ALWAYS be there, waiting for a slick team to come along and exploit it

just watch the next game and tell me teams dont know where to attack inter

There is certainly a problem regarding our defense in the past few days, but this is normal, the guys are tired from a very stressful season, but as champions and a great team, they need to stick more to the job

Some peepl are happy with this season that they overlook the fact that competition wud be stronger next season and we need to gear up on our weaker areas to beat the competition.

Milan will get better but so will Inter. And if you are referring to gobbi coming back. they won't be our competition it will take them at least 2 seasons before they can start challenging for lo scudetto again.

I am fine with our defence IF Burdisso can play every match next season...
He can't and then problems arrive...

That's my opinion

just on maxwell/grosso at LB...

as much as i like maxwell, his defense sucks

grosso is better than maxwell, but i have mixed feelings about him

the one thing about favalli at LB, even though he offered nothing in attack was that he was always accountable for his opposite number

nice try by the inter management, but this was a step backwards this year

im all for moving zanetti, our only reliable wingback into LB

Respected them doesn't mean we shouldn't be realistic. Only a gobbo or a very paranoid fan from another team will think that can win the scudetto next season.

The quality of their squad is very poor. they will need make a lot of new signings and then they will need these players to gel and besides that what trophy of importance has Deschamps as a coach ever won??

They will not be the force of before.

I always agree with you, Stef, but what I'd prefer if we take them as strong opponents rather than weak ones. I dont want us to slip up against Juve next season, not for 1 minute.

I think our defense got things together in our last match versus Roma and it hasn't been so bad this year except for the fact it gives opposing teams a lot of space outside the box and players with a great and accurate shot can score due to the space they are given.

I honestly think that our defense is in a good level, I mean in the past games we had some tough times, but remember that we already won the Scudetto and the team isn't as concentrated as it should be, plus that game against Roma was one in a lifetime event for them, so lets not judge the all season on the account of this last events.

I also agree with Toninu when he says we give too much space for long range shots, but that also has to do with the midfield, and lets not forget that we didn't had our main defensive midfielders for a quite long time.

This been said I would welcome a world class defender because next year Inter will be hit from all sides there will always be pressure on us (the Champions), however is reasonable to admit that for one defender to come in another has to leave, its like in the attack we only 5 strikers, we only need 5 defendersd (central defenders).

i seriously think that Khalid Boulahrouz is OUR MAN:D
he could replace Nico or Matrix as a 3rd cb
but sending Berdisso on loan? L O L ! ! ! !
i think all of Inter's enemies gave the same advice...
sending Andreolli on loan is ok, he must play regularly in serie a
i think it's more important in our defence to buy some WORLD CLASS midfilder to replace Paddy or Chuchu when they are injured (there has hardly been any periods in this season when both of them were on the pitch...) like Essien
also, the team needs a repalcement for Figo, even if he'll stay with Inter the next season, because he can't play 90 minutes, nor 60 matches/year
here, my choice is Franck Ribéry...
Khalid Boulahrouz, Mickael Essien and Franck Ribéry...

Before khalid moved to Chelsea I said somewhere here we should get him.
And now, when he will leave them, it's our chance.
He is strong, hard to get past him, has pace...
And would fit in great in Italy.

And wouldn't be expensive.
But I only doubt his temper...

About Maxwell, just wait and you will see.
No way we should sell him.
Guy is great player

Okay, I've got a.. nono THE solution, of all our problems, in defence, at least..

Sell Grosso. He has probably been the worst Inter player of this season. We expected alot from him- he hasn't proven him self worthy of my mercy.
Sell Cordoba. When he was young, he was fast.. Now he's old, and misses the 's'.
Get rid of Samuel. We never use "The Wall", and with reason. Materazzi has been fantastic this year- and Samuel isn't good enough- not the player we saw in Rome. Bye bye, "the wall"!(I loove the album, though.)
Get rid of Materazzi. He's too old.. Sorry, but a guy in his age, isn't stable..
Now, Burdisso. I like Burdisso- and I like to see him as a future captain. He has the quality of being tough. Can't explain further- I hope you agree, anyways.

Now.. Who to buy?
I'd like to see these players in the defence next season...
Chivu: Unrealistic, but Wouw! He would be extremly nice to have. And I think he can play LB, am I right?
Mexés: Unrealistic too... but Wouw! He would (also) be extremly nice to have.
Heinze: Man U manager Mourinho (;-) got ya) Ferguson has said, that he would sell Heinze- if he liked the offer..
Bouhlarouz: Yeah, he is also a very tough player. Has had a TERRIBLE season at Chelski- but perhaps his toughness would help Inter?

That leaves us with the starting line-up:

Maicon-Burdisso-Chivu/Mexés-Heinze.
I know, it SUCKS that Maxwell isn't in the starting-11.. cope with it :)..

Anyhow, Inter need stars.. Stars in defence, and a star in the attack, and possible attacking midfielder. Juve's return to Serie A, could cause Inter a great deal of trouble- not to mention Milan, Fiorentina and Roma.. So (never thought I should say this..) Moratti, BUY!
