I'm interested in knowing more about Simeone. He was at inter when I was first becoming a fan of this club and there always seemed to be this idea that he was a 'legend' in some respect. I don't know why, but it just SEEMED that way to me when I first started following inter.

In Argentine football he's the most capped player with 106, and I understand he spent 2 seasons with us. I was surprised to know he only spent 2, because it seemed like he was here for ages.

He's scored 3 times against Milan, which is very impressive for a midfielder.

So I want to know, why did he leave?! There was obviously a strong Argentine contingent here, he must have been popular to score 3 goals against Milan, I don't understand why he would leave...

Also, I want to know where is he playing at the moment? Is it Atletico Madrid? I never saw him play for them - but on FIFA 2005 he is listed in their squad.

Great topic about a great player. It's funny, there are some Inter players that spent a short time with us, but are considered Inter greats, such as Zamorano and Simeone. Goes to tell you how much we appreciate players that give their best to the shirt :star:

He was a great DM that had great offensive skills. Why he left? For Vieri, how ironic! He was included in the deal, and we went and got DiBiaggio to replace him.

I have to say that I hated his famous simulation move at WC98 to get Beckham sent off. Then the year after our meeting with ManU in the CL Q-final in 1999 was the big Becks-Simeone reunion. It might've taken some attention away and we lost to them 3-1 agg. and they went on to win the CL.

Anyway, I will never forget what he said once. He said that to win the scudetto with Inter is better than winning anything else. He sadly won it with Lazio the year after he left us, and I saw in an interview with him how much it upset him that we sold him.

He is now playing with Racing club in Argentina if I am not mistaken.

Yeah he won a Uefa Cup with us, he was liked by the Inter fans because he was a tireless player, he never gave up and gave it anything, at times it was p1ssing off because he hog the ball a bit...but he didn't get much of it, so you can't blame him.

I think Cholo left us because he was pretty close to Simoni, and he last season with us was that joke of a year where we had 4 coaches and the management want a rehaul of the club, and he was included in the Vieri deal.

He then pwned us when Lazio beat us 4-2...which was heartbreaking. He didn't celebrate much, because not winning with Inter was just as big as not winning anything with Argentina for him.
He went to Atletico but he left them and is @ Racing Club in Argentina...he's helped them to third.

There won't be many like Cholo, an absolute champion of a player, Argentina really miss players like he and Redondo...players like Cambiasso are good but they're hardly a Redondo/Simeone..and only Mascherano will compare to those two in the upcoming years.

Simeone has always had a heart of a lion when it came to the football pitch. In many aspects, Cambiasso resembles him in that fighting spirit. The fans took to him because he played with his heart on his sleeve, a trademark of Simeone.

Primo - actually, there wasn't an Argentine contingent at Inter when Simeone was around. The only other Argentine in the squad was Javier Zanetti.

Ciao,
Tim

Great topic. Simeone is one of my favorites because when I first started supporting this club he was such a great DM, always emotional and fighting hard for our jersey. One thing that I'll never forget about him is on May 5th, 2002 when we had lost the scudetto to Lazio.. he scored a goal and just shaked his head in dissapointment. He loves Inter, and our fans recognize this.

One of the greatest feelings of being an Interista. International players ala Simeone, Zamorano, Cordoba and Zanetti just stealing your hearts. Simply beautiful. :)

True, and this a proof to those who think Foreigners don't have the 'character' or passion like Italians.

All our heros the last decade were foreigners, like Simeone, Zamorano, JZ, Cordoba etc. while the Italians like Cannavaro and Vieri were nothing but a disgrace.

Well, there are two sides to this story. I mean, look at it from the eye from an Italian, watching his club every weekend. Also a die hard fan of your nazionale, it isn't too nice on the eyes to see a few stars from Milan and Juventus on the starting line-up yet you aren't too well represented. It takes away some sense of pride in your club, atleast in my book, and yes .. I am a fan of the Italia.

On the other hand, those who say that foreigners don't fight as hard and don't bleed for the club are obviously wrong on several occasions, I don't feel the need to list any name sbecause we are well aware of some heroes that have worn our jersey.

It's funny you should say that, I just knew it before that game that he was going to score. And he felt awful about it, but he was too much of a professional not to give his best.

I doubt it...He has said many times that the team he loves is Lazio...

I hardly ever seen a player as dedicated and committed as Pablo Simeone at Inter.
