Bitter sweet performance from the last night. It was admirable he was willing to step out of his comfort zone to go wherever necessary to help the team even if it was out of his skillset. It was funny at first to see him staying wide and attempted to cut inside which obviously failed due to his snail pace. Then you realize loltoro was hiding all the time and you cannot use the excuse him not getting service because Dzeko worked to his bones to receive the ball. Shame that his finishing sucks. There was a moment when he received through ball for 1 vs 1 situation and what he did was bearing down to the narrow angle, allowing Consigli in comfortable position to save the ball.


Sidenote: iThe moment was the footrace between Serie-A slowest striker and possibly Serie-A worst defender Il Grande Chiriches. It was like watching 2 grandpas race down for the last slice of the pizza on the table and the winner still cannot finish the meal.

Ofc his age could be an excuse. Players play with their bodies. When their bodies decline so does their impact. It's like we pick on Messi, Ronaldo and Buffon mistakes now and go like haha I always found them overrated! We have an old squad. And the more the season pass the more the physical fatigue is gonna expose itself.

I hope the likes of Correa and Gosens stay injury free from now on so we could get the likes of Dzeko, Sanchez and Perisic more rest. That might improve their performance as well.

If your game plan is to start Dzeko and play long balls to him as the primary attack option then for heavens sake have a couple of other players close to him. In his defense he won a fair number of headers today but no one was close to receive them or anticipated them. As for his missed headers, well we should be kinda use to it by now, albeit frustrating.
