Newcastle Hoping To Sign Parker And Emre
6/9/2005 1:22:00 PM
Newcastle manager Graeme Souness says the club are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker and Inter’s Emre Belezoglu.
"Parker is a player we like very much," said Souness. "I’d like him to sign and the chairman is working very hard to make sure that happens."

On Emre, he added: "He’s a player we know and like the look of. We have expressed an interest in him."

Everton were thought to be closing in on the services of Parker.

Gazzetta.it quotes Emre saying:

"If Inter decide to sell me this summer, I would only consider offers from outside Italy. It would just be too hard for me to play in Italy with a jersey that is not black and blue."

:star:

what a political answer after he made comments about us before... ;)

A turkish friend saw an interview of him in turkish television at Istanbul Airport before departure to Milano yesterday morning.
He told, that he asked 3 months ago the inter executive board that he wants to leave because he didn't become enough playing time. They told him, that Inter won't let him go, because they saw no problem with him and inter and he should be patient. But he and his manager want to ask the inter board for the last time after the practice session today (Friday). Emre and his manager want to make clear, that he needs playing time whereverThey will decide if he will leave or not in the next 4 days. If they let him go, Emre will look after the 5 offers which his manager received. If not, he will play for inter next season.

Guys, i think inter don't let him go. But on the other hand......which club need a player, who won't stay????

Get rid of him! He has very good talents, he deserves regular playing time BUT not with Inter. Let him sign for whomever he wants - provided the price is right.

I watched the Turkey-Greece match recently and I saw Emre was played UP FRONT. This, to me, creates a lot of confusion about his real position. I understand he is a central midfielder but why was he played at right-forward for Turkey? At least this is how he was positioned in the starting line up formation.

Maybe his coach decided he is a good attacker so put him up front. I hate coaches like this, they should put MIDFIELDERS in MIDFIELD and STRIKERS up FRONT.

Well the commentator said he was playing up front, as I mentioned earlier.

Turkey plays with 3 attacking midfielders, but emre helps the defence out a lot.... Maybe that got the commentator confused...

I had a feeling the commentator was an idiot. He said Turkey was playing 4-4-2 with Emre up front.

What happened to Hasan Sas? He was good in WC2002.

$4M is too little for a player in his calibre. We never sell players for their average value, we always get the short-end of the stick.

He is an international, 24-years-old, and extremely talented. I hope we get at least $8M for him.

We don't need Gerrard, we have enough trouble trying to fit in Veron, Stan and Pizarro.

Best thing is send him to Arsenal in a deal to get A.Cole, Newcastle don't have any player of interest to us.

I like the idea of getting Cole in exchange for Emre (plus more I'm sure) but Arsenal's midfield would be very hard for Emre to break into. They already have a number of great CM's.. Vieira, Fabregas, Gilberto, Flamini and they recently got rid of Edu (who I'd argue is better than Emre) so if I was Wenger, Emre wouldn't be a priority.

4 million is too cheap for Emre. 6 million MINIMUM I say.

If I am not mitaken, neither of Fabergas nor Flamini is right-footed. And is this Flamini the same one from Marseille, he isn't good!

I meant lef-footed, that's what I don't see Arsenal having in midfield, but I could be wrong, if it's the same Flamini that was in Marseille, then he is not even close to Emre's calibre.

it is the one from Marseille. but i can see Emre playing at Arsenal.

Ljunberg-Vieria-Emre-Pires

I am sure Wenger needs him. But we must have transfer gurus with brains, which we don't.

But they could have a better LB other than Cole up their sleeve, I don't know, but if they give him to Newcastle without negotiating with Arsenal, then they should be... :fero:
