Fuck I told Rooney will aim top left corner, he always does @ ManU, too bad Pareiko didnt hear me from my couch here in Norway. :yao:

Estonia 0 1 England FT

But it was not top corner, it was at very good height for keeper to save it. Shame though, keeper should have kept it out.

Finally De Gea starts and Casillas on bench. About time. Also good to see Alcacer getting a start,

Yeah absolutely, he should have done better. Still a good fight with a man less , our most important too, at the start of 2nd half.

San Marino away is the last match this year and they better not come back without all the points!

So today are elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and some guys added another name to the list of candidates for the president - Muhamed Besic :D

There's even a picture somewhere, I'll post it later to funny pictures thread.

I take back what I said about Conte. It seemed he wanted to change Italy's style, but Italy has become Rube 2.0.

Absolutely gut wrenching/pathetic to watch.

 outlandish comment. How many games has he been in charge again?

I, too, am talking about the playing style. He needs time.

I will admit they look pathetic too with regards to their current style, but I'm not convinced this is Conte's vision.

the worse the opposition, the worse Italy look

Italian sides are in dire need of some attacking midfielders. This narrowness and hatred for conventional wingers keeps going on....Even Candreva has to be deployed as a fkn wingback/midfielder.

Complete coward mentality by Conte. No need to play with 3 CBs vs. Malta.

Well that's been the case since the day we were both born. They're notorious for playing down to their opposition.

Italy always plays to the level of their competition. It's both a curse and a blessing.

Italy always plays like shit against small teams, because they have never had produced any world class wingers. The best winger they produced is Donadoni and he was a midfielder playing out wide. This leaves them struggling against teams who park the bus very narrowly.

Top teams on the other hand, often take the initiative and leave huge spaces in the back, which don't require any great wide attacking players, but just world class forwards and central midfielders.

Germany might not have some GOAT of all time central midfield, but when playing with their best starting attacking midfielders, they can break down any small team.

Well dude, think about it. There are no good wingers in Serie A either. Italian clubs don't use wingers to break down teams that defend with 11 men behind the ball (ala half the teams in Calcio).

It's not all about style. You can sit here and whine all day about the style Italians play, but it's what we do.

I'm more concerned about the fact that this is the worst cycle of Italian strikers I've seen in my short life.

I'm okay with using 3 CBs against Malta, but the problem is Italia doesn't have any quality attacking fullbacks.

They also wonder why Juventus doesn't do well in CL...Real Madrid's 2 wingers are worth more than the entire Juventus team combined...Bayern has Robben/Ribery...Juventus doesn't even use wingers

On the strikers, I think Immobile is very good in counterattack. He showed it against Anderlecht and Arsenal, but struggles in Bliga where teams sit back. He'll get used to it too, just needs a season. The problem though is that Italy isn't countering that often against these small teams, and Immobile suffers from the same problem Diego Costa does with Spain...Diego Costa is scoring boatloads in EPL, and gets excited when he opens his account on his 7th/8th game against Luxembourg.

It's kinda funny that Conte wanted wingers at Juve so he could play 4-3-3, but their management wouldn't buy him Sanchez or Cuadrado.

The lack of actual quality defenders is the most concerning part, considering our stereotype and all. Who's the best Italian defender currently, Chiellini?

The strikers are still young and will be great when they're older I'm sure. Immobile, Zaza, Berardi, and even Gabbiadini still have time to grow.

Yeah. That was the reason why he left, according to Tancredi Palmeri. But even now he has players like Candreva and uses them as wingbacks/midfielders.

I guess it's not even just the wingers, but as adrossi said it's wingbacks too.

If we're being honest with ourselves, what positions does Italia appear to be set at moving forward?

The only one is GK, where there are oodles of talented players (Sirigu, Perin, Bardi are the first three I think of but there's more).

This all stems back to how useless the FIGC is.

It's almost like winning in 2006 was the worst thing that ever happened to them. It put them into a stage of denial. If they would have flamed out consecutively in '06, '10, '14 then maybe something would actually be underway to fix these problems instead of running from them.

The future is not looking fantastic for Italy in terms of top talent. They have tons of good players coming through, so there is depth there, but hardly any players with world class potential. The youth system needs to be refined, and as Stramaccioni said B teams are urgently needed. The biggest problem I think is the gap between primavera and Serie A is massive, there needs to be an intermediate stage. Co-ownerships imo were a good thing, but they banned them.

There needs to be an intermediate stage where you can test the true ability of these talents. England/Germany have reserve squads, Spain has B teams. When you send them to Serie B on loan, there is already an environment of results over gameplay, but they need the freedom to fuck up in a high level without major consequences.

F-U-C-K GUUS HIDDINK!

This selfish bastard always believes he knows better so he destroyed LVG's perfectly working system for his stupid dumb awkward defensive pussy football, which won't work because defense is our weak point to begin with and look where we stand! 4 losses in his first 5 games! The worst result for a manager in our entire history! In the end all he cares about is the money anyway.

FUCKING KIDDING ME!

F-U-C-K GUUS HIDDINK! FUCK HIM!!!

KOPPIGE KUTACHTERHOEKER!!!
