So, Barca have signed Bergvall at the end. 7 mln + 3 bonuses. I guess he was never a real target for us anyway.

It’s not closed yet, down to Barca & Spurs. Window closes today in EPL but cannot sign player until he is 18 (On Friday) due to league rules

Romano says he turned down 10 higher financial offers and now the London club are also offering more financially, guarantee of 1st team & his countryman Kulusevski a possible influencing factor

So in the end Bergvall chose Spurs over Barca

I think he looks a marvelous talent but leap from there to world class is never guaranteed + Barça has no shortage of midfield considerations at their disposal to be damaging short or long-term. For me, more about the optics. For most clubs, this is just part of the business but at a club like Barca it has to be contextualized in how you go about your business discretely yet effectively

From Spurs POV, no doubt they organized their pursuit well, coupled to leveraging Kulusevski’s connection to the player & assurances of immediate 1st team football - those are aspects that should have been mitigated by Deco et al upon his recent visit to Barcelona but sounds like the London club were shrewd in leaving it late with a compelling package & use of Kulusevski’s relationship with the young Swede

From Barcelona perspective going forward, another late collapse under Deco that begs the question of whether he is out of his depth because pull of Spurs is dwarfed by that of Barca irrespective of financial side to it as player rejected more lucrative packages to draw close to Barca.

If I’m Laporta, less concerned about Bergvall specifically but how it impacts the club going forward considering the inability to win off the pitch in the market where few clubs can compete with draw of playing for blaugrana

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that negotiation.

"We've agreed to sign this player from ourselves."

Lots of convincing required for sure.

EDIT: To be clear, he's an on-loan player for Troyes, playing for Girona, signing for Man City...all three owned by CFG. Multi-club ownership within the same confederation is such a stain on this sport.

Well still Pep's brother wants to keep most players at Girona if possible, because he believes they could be the next big team in Spain. We will see what happens, I hope they continue in this vein

I hope they turn themselves into the most successful team in Catalonia, but that's about as far as I'm interested in seeing them go.

I think Haaland is the better choice for Real Madrid because they have Vini as lw and after departing Benzema they need a #9 striker.
Mbappe is gonna play either as lw or #9. First one gonna sub Vini, the second one is not the best position for him.
I'll wait to see how Real Madrid would handle that.

Mbappe is receiving 20m net and 50m signing bonus. Not that expensive tbh.
+ Alfonso Davies they'll be CL winners for years to come. So poor for football monopoly.

Well, same was said for PSG while they've signed even greater names than Mbappe. Signing superstars won't guarantee an automatic success. I dunno, I feel like he's going to cause damage in their club with his toxic character.

Very awkward comparison. PSG was a collection of stars with zero history. While Real is already a CL monopoly and add two absolute best on top. They can bench Mbappe if he is causing trouble and still win CL easily.
Not to mention the coach.
More terrifying is the age. Youngsters will get better with time.

Dude, I just made an example how football is a group sport, unless there is a good atmosphere and harmony, you'll win shit. Mbappe is cancer. He might even turn to be greatest transfer ever, who knows... but I think otherwise. And no team is winning CL easily, ever.

I'm not going into details now, but their success in recent years in CL was of course their ability, but part of it was also luck in which they pulled some miracles.

I even said many times, Mbappe is a brilliant player but he's a cunt. Life will come at him, sooner or later.

Endryck and Mbappe are coming so one must leave. Real is selling Rodrygo.

Damn a marquee signing is right there. But we cant afford unless sacrificing Lautaro.

Rodrygo is not good enough for whatever price tag they put on him.

Vini on the other hand would have been sweet, but if we stick with Lautaro and Thuram we don't need such a luxury we can't afford.
