Cole to Chelsea, Gallas to Arsenal

Chelsea FC and Arsenal have agreed terms for the transfers of Ashley Cole and William Gallas.

Chelsea will also pay Arsenal 5m pounds.

Were do you get the 15 million from Handoyo the fee is undisclosed. MSI owned the players rights so they might have gone to West Ham for free.

Pocket-lint has something of a soft spot for West Ham United which makes the signing of Tevez and Mascherano welcome news indeed.

In what smacks of a great bid of good old Cockney trading, the pair have signed permanent deals with the club for an undisclosed fee, probably 15 million pounds. Having starred in the World Cup, both players were expected to make big money moves to top clubs. West Ham have beaten off the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal in signing the players.

The really interesting part is in the "ownership" of the players, with MSI, Media Sports Investments, being involved the deal, and also having shown previous interest in WHUFC. Last year MSI made a failed bid to buy the football club for £75m. Perhaps they know something we don't.

Of course, the players are almost certainly guaranteed to play week in and week out - a move to Chelsea could have found them sitting on the most expensive bench in London.

Whilst the fans are celebrating the signing of new talent to the club, there remains the fuzzy blurring of the lines between the beautiful game and complicated business deals.

Also, though I'm not sure exactly the mechanisms by which this works, I believe West Ham is forced to get rid of the pair if they recieve bids over 50m GBP. MSI would then receive a very large percentage of their transfer fee.

So, this deal works out great for West Ham who get two of the best prospects in the world for very cheap, and MSI makes more money than they would have.

Also, I'm very happy with Milan picking up Oliveira. Of the other realistic strikers out there (so, no Eto'o or anything), Suazo was the other one I especially would have loved. I had started to come around on Drogba though, despite his ridiculous cost. I also would have liked to see Iaquinta come, though I'm sure most disagree with that. Borriello showed some nice moves in the pretty much meaningless half against Inter the other day though, so maybe another addition will prove to have been useless. I think not picking up Oddo or Amelia after the loans went out is unfortunate, but I would not be surprised at all (perhaps even expect) to see something happen in January regarding one or both.

Btw. Arsenal had a great transfer campaign..They got rid of unhappy players like Reyes and Cole and got Baptista and Gallas instead..Additionaly, they signed Rosicky and kept Henry..

True, but it certainly doesn't look like Dida will return after this season, and if he does he's already 33 years old and having some rough times recently. Having Amelia (or flipping him to Juve for Buffon) would be a huge boost not necessarily for this year but going forward.

I would love them sticking with Cafu/Bonera if it weren't for Cafu's age, he's looked really good so far but I doubt he can keep it up over a full season.

And yes, Arsenal did very well. Chelsea too, though Cole replaces Bridge who has been in my eyes their best defender. They also signed Boulahrouz a few days ago.

Why do you always say that the best young talents will go to Bayern? I say VDV will go to Inter...... Just kidding, but since I remember, you say that all players one day will play in Bayern... And you were rught ONLY about Podolski.

Btw, you should know, who will play as forst choise attack, Makaay and Podolski or? Personally I would play Santa Cruz and Podolski...

I don't think VDV moves from HSV in lots of years, he is the captain now and have a lot of responsibilitys, it also depends on what HSV do in the next years.
Hey and what about Claudio Pizarro? the guy is so underrated.... better than Santa Cruz for me, i would play with Podolsky as a second striker and as a pure striker Makaay or Pizarro.
