I'm not sure if the same people who rated this a 8/10 mercato have been cursing Spalletti and the players. But I don't think consistency of opinion and logic fares well with any majority set of people.
As for the mercato, it is indeed an 8ish out of 10 mercato. Our lack of midfield general (not gonna call Nainggolan that because he's not that type of player) and lack of proper left back is evident, but given the circumstances, it's been a great one. FFP restrictions for the 2018 window, CL list restrictions and further Settlement Agreement restrictions made things too hard. Given all that, it's been a great mercato.
We played one bad game, against an also bad perfrorming team, and we had 4 new players start (de Vrij, Asamoah, Lautaro, Politano) where 3/4 of them were amongst the only good performers we had. We still have Vrsaljko and Nainggolan to see integrated, wait for Keita to check if he can compete with Politano for a starting spot and we also have to get Perisic and Brozovic back in form.
People judging the mercato off one game are just fitting right into my first statement. They lack consistency of opinion and logic.
As for me, you're free to quote my take on the 8/10 mercato that I rated where I said that our build up will still have issues and the lack of a midfield general will be evident. That doesn't make our mercato shit, it just makes it incomplete, hence the 8.
