Klaassen always looked good to me whenever I saw him for Ajax and Netherlands. Scores a lot too.

Not the profile I’d like though, or think we need. Speaking of profiles, as others have mentioned there’s no consistency so it’s hard to tell exactly what the fuck we’re after here.

The only thing that seems concrete is that Limone doesn’t like Asllani. Therefore getting an alternative to Calhanoglu, like Maxime Lopez, makes sense. Wanting a physical midfielder instead of Sensi also makes sense but Ndombele or Klaassen are not that.

Youssouf Fofana is easily the most exciting name here but not realistic on a loan or low cost operation.

Is Klaassen capable of playing regista? I agree with everyone that on first glance, he does not seem the profile we are looking for (physical player). It seems to be that we were looking to make two changes - a regista in place of Asllani (i.e. Maxime Lopez) and a physical midfielder. Based on today's reports it seems Asllani is not willing to move? If so, given how little Inzaghi trusts Asllani, is it possible management is looking for one player, someone who can rotate with Barella/Mkhi/Fratessi and play as regista as well?

If Asllani doesn't want to go then Maxime Lopez deal is off ? Asllani really going to be in Inzaghi good books now. Klaassen is signed as a sub for whom? What the hell about Agoume? The midfield is packed with youth rotting on the bench that the coach doesn't trust, with an injury prone guy and a couple of ancient dudes. Guess it could be worse, Gags could still be here. FORZA whatever.

Why is Ajax willing to let him go on a free?
Hopefully someone can answer this. I noticed that Ajax also terminated Dusan Tadic's contract and he was generally their best player over the last few years. It seems they had a very poor season by their standards and I'm guessing they are having a change of generation. Who knows, could be some type of gentleman's agreement with players who have been there for a long time. Ajax generally get pretty good money for their young talents, but I'm guessing guys like Tadic/Klaassen wouldn't get them much.

A 30 (31 in February) year old midfielder for free?

That sounds exactly like something Inter would do.

You answered it already. Ajax sell players for profit. Tadic and Klaassen have next too none, so they'd prefer to give the precious minutes for developing products.

Klaasen is Dutch Vecino
He doesn't seem anything like Vecino in terms of playing style, in the few matches I've watched him. Vecino can run for two games straight and has a decent ability of getting into the opponent's box but doesn't really score much. At least based on Klaassen's stats, he seems to get double digits goals pretty consistantly. The highest number of goals Vecino has scored in a single competition over a season is 3 goals - I'm actually surprised it's that low.

Vecino also seems a lot more physical compared to Klaassen. From what I've seen, Klaassen looks more suitable playing in a possession team while Vecino is probably better suited in a team with a goal to break up play or play on the counter attack as he's actually decent at carrying the ball forward in space. Then again, I haven't actually watched Klaassen that much.

Because he is utter trash. Horrible, horrible signing. Klaassen is done. Here in Holland absolutely nobody understand he is rumoured to a club like Inter.

Klaassen used to be a midfielder who is able to score a goal. He was good without the ball and got himself in scoring position. But if you think Dumfries has a bad technique you are in for a treat with Davy…😂 Also don’t forgrt he failed miserably at Everton, Wolfsburg and the Dutch NT before. He only worked for Ajax in a very specific role. And even there they don’t want him anymore because in possesion he is a dissonant.

Also the only position he can play is the one of Mhiki. That means Frattesi is going to be vice Barella?

I understand the profile. Given the lack of goals at our attack we need someone who can score goals from our midfield. Klaassen had those qualities. On ED/Ajax level, now probably on FC Twente level. He has nothing to do in the Serie A, let alone Inter. I mean I would gladly take Ndombele over Klaassen. And Ndombele would be a very silly signing too….

Nah man. Better trust a youtube video than someone who has actually watched him.
Yeah I have literary seen the guy play over 50 times. I used to be scared for the guy as he always scored against Feyenoord. But even in De Klassieker from last year we let the guy free when he was in possession. As it is almost a guarantee he will lose the ball.

I really don’t understand why Inter wants Klaassen. They must not have seen him the last 2 years. Not a single game.

Well said mate. I've watched just a couple of games of Klaassen, and I have the same opinion. But, when people started praising him here, I thought that I'm wrong.

Shit. Stats tell very similar story as RotterdamNerazzurri. In 20/21 he played with 7.3 average rating.

Last two seasons with 6.7. That’s a shit rating for an Ajax player in Eredivisie. In comparison: Tadic played all 34 games from the start and had messiesque 7.8 average rating and 8 MotM performances.

Would have loved Tadic, even at 34.

Personally, when I have seen him, he’s been pretty good. But most of those games were years ago. I guess some kind of revival is possible, but not feeling hopeful. Probably a mistake, fortunately not an expensive one.

Don't have one.
Cherry on top... More like taking a dump on top of your cake

Just don't understand interest on klaassen, hopefully they don't ruin solid mercato we v had with this signing.
