I guess we don't need to imagine this because he wouldn't have been taking pens here anyway, but I'm just imaging the hellfire this forum would've descended to had we witnessed that with us, and then losing the game afterwards.
I made a similar joke on Reddit yesterday about this. I don't even know Martin Palermo outside of that, he was before my time, but the 2001 Guiness World Records book had the statistic about "most missed penalties in one game" and, to rub salt in the wound, it was one of their "featured" records on the page it was listed...big picture of a pissed off Palermo spanning the height of the page. I was 8 years old at the time...I had plenty of time to read a world records book over and over again.
