Inter cancel Moretti date
Friday 4 July, 2008
Inter have pulled out of this summer’s Birra Moretti Trophy on August 21, which would have pitted the Nerazzurri against Juventus and Napoli.

The tournament has taken place annually since 1997 and has been won by Juventus five times, Inter three times and by Napoli and Udinese once each.

Inter won last year’s competition after beating Napoli 2-0 and triumphing over Juve 1-0 – David Suazo was the Player of the Tournament.

Sources suggest that new boss Jose Mourinho has requested that the Beneamata pull out of the Naples event and they will be hit by a fine for their late decision.

The Biscione’s city rivals Milan are expected to take their place and the confirmation should follow shortly.

Very smart for declining this tournment! Extra rest is essential

I don't like the pulling out. Easy way to gain confidence (or lose it).

Does anyone have any information on where the Supercoppa will take place?

Good decision, playing 3 halves of 45 minutes just 3 days before you have to play half way across the world(for a trophy and more importantly against Roma) simply doesnt make sense... the only problem I have is why coudnt we cancel this earlier? Or maybe have it rescheduled,I'm sure the sponsors would understand...

What's the point of this tournament anyway. It's boring and silly, unlike Emirates Cup or LG Amsterdam Tournament.

Its a charity thing... I'd like my club to be charitable for something else rather than help portuguese clubs with 35m euros :D

They can do charity buy playing non Italian teams in a normal game. Or organise a friendly tournamnet, similar to Emirates Cup or Amsterdam Tournament and give some percentage from tickets sale to charity.

All training sessions closed is quite a change from the mancini era. Also I see on the training schedule up to the tim cup the boys will be having double sessions even on the days when they have a match. He is really going to get them in shape.

Inter's summer schedule

MILAN - Italian champions Inter will report back for pre-season training on Wednesday 16 July.
José Mourinho's Nerazzurri will train at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti* in Appiano Gentile for two days before leaving for a ten-day training camp in Brunico in the South Tyrol.
During their stay in the mountains Inter will play two friendlies, one against Saudi outfit Al Hilal on Thursday 24 July and the other against Serie B side Bari on Sunday 27 July. Both games will kick off at 18:00.
On their return from the summer training camp Inter will face Juventus and AC Milan in the Tim Trophy triangular tournament on Tuesday 29 July at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.
After five more days of training sessions in Appiano Gentile from Thursday 31 July to Monday 4 August, Inter will leave for Munich where they will face German champions Bayern on 5 August. The Franz Beckenbauer Cup / 12th Pirelli Trophy clash will kick off at 20:45 in the Allianz Arena.
The Nerazzurri will remain overseas for their next two friendlies of the pre-season. Mourinho's men take on Seville on Friday 8 August (kick-off 19:00) and Ajax on Saturday 9 August (kick-off 21:15). Both games in the Amsterdam ArenA are part of the prestigious LG Amsterdam Tournament.
Preparations for 2008/09 will continue with three more days of double training sessions in Appiano Gentile. Inter will then travel to Portugal for the Eusebio Cup match against Benfica at the Estadio Da Luz in Lisbon, to take place on Friday 15 August (kick-off 22:00 local time).
*Unless stated otherwise, all training sessions at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti in Appiano Gentile are closed to the public.

Makes sense... last season Mancio complained in the first few weeks that our players were not 100% because they are all physically big and strong.. remember the Fenerbahce loss? OR the Livorno draw?

Mourinho is making sure that doesnt happen...

Where did you infer that there are double training sessions on gamedays?
