We had good performance against Spain, Portugal and Argentina in the previous cups.

This world cup, we fired our coach and hired Queiroz just two months ago and we were heavily obsessed with the problems outside the field and football in recent weeks. Not also saying that we lost our main GK at the beginning of the game and used a GK that had no previous experience in a big game.

Even if we decrease the teams to 24, we still qualify from Asia. But I totally disagree with expanding teams to 48.
I didn't mean to pick on you guys. You deserve to be at the World Cup. I just don't think there are another 12-24 countries who do.

Bud. no idea, but in 94 Us could get to semies , but they lost to Brazil 0:1. anyways, good luck to Iran as well
I've never been to Iran so hard to feel patriotic !

Spent the best part of 38 years in London ( I don't support England either).

Shame Italy did not qualify , guess I'm rooting for Brazil then.

I had seen your posts before but I doubted whether you're Iranian or not. Because your username is Iranian but your flag isn't lol. I was confused.

Anyway, movafagh bashi dadash.

Calm down lol

Football and sports is about diversity and inclusion. The current format is very fair and gives everyone a chance to participate but of course there will be different levels. That is why the group stage exists.
Its like european teams should not be included in Olympic Marathons just because someone from Kenya always wins.

There are many reasons mostly cultural but also economical and physical that lead the European and South American teams to always prevail in the World Cups , but this doesn't mean that the other continents should not deserve to play xp
Diversity? Sure, that's why we have world cup. Inclusivity? Why don't we give everyone participation trophy so everyone feels included?

Every nation gets a chance to participate in world cup, if they are shit enough to miss world cup, then too bad (Italy included). I just don't want to see 12 extra shit teams and big nations beating the shit out of them.

What an unlucky start for Iran. Apparently their main GK got injured and the reaction of the coach said it all
Yeah and I read something right now that he'll miss the rest of the cup also. Not official yet but that will be so by tomorrow probably. Although we have called up 3 other goalkeepers, but none of them have the experience to play in the world cup level games. The knockout stage qualification dreams are most likely over for us. We'll end up with zero points.

Just look how shit asian teams are already. Now they will get extra 4 or 5 spots. Same with North America... While Europe will get just 3 extra spots. Makes 0 sense. The format should have stayed the same.

Wtf are these additional times today. Horrible
Collina said at his press conference before the tournament started they will add the full time of delays. So the more time wasted by the players the more they are adding.

I am all for this. Hopefully players learn not to waste time.

Each to their own, I prefer more sides getting to play and experience a world cup.
I feel like a good compromise would be having a "mini" World Cup, sort of like the Europa League, where the winner automatically qualifies for the next World Cup.

Won't happen, of course.

Don't give them ideas

Not a terrible idea of course and I'd like this sort of tournament, but giving a free WC spot from this would make it awkward but it's the only selling point I guess.

I would prefer if the wc was straight knockout no group stage. Would be great for the neutral. Won't happen as fifa wouldn't be happy losing a big name after one round.

I guess Saudi Arabia gave the answers to all the guys here arguing why inclusion in football is worth it.
No they won't win the world cup but Saudi Arabians now are super happy and who knows which kid now gets inspired to become a football player. Sometimes all you need is a spark

Argentina has a world class attack and a mediocre defense. Not surprised in the slightest.

Didn't watch the match since it was at 5 a.m. here, but I just can't see Argentina winning this tournament.
