Italy lost against Spain and was unlucky against a good Sweden. Sadly we dont have the luck to make a goal at the 96. minute like them. But it´s anyway easier to pass this group then wining a group with Spain.

Can't believe we did it. In spite of our corrupt FA, our paranoid and tactically inept coach, and our completely incompetent CB Jang, we did it. The goalkeeper and other CB Kim had excellent tourneys, fully deserved goal for the latter.

Germany has hit their lowest point ever in the world cup. The second time ever they failed to qualify to second round, the first being in 1938.

Just be happy with your WC win over Germany for 5 minutes at least.

Uni could win $1 million in the lottery and still be pissed off that he has to collect it. This is what our club does to people.

Coach still has to get the fuck out. My mates are saying the cunt should just stay in Russia.

very much impressed with how Sweden played, they were aggressive and played according to their game plan, Mexico struggled with physicality and aerial ball, they crossed more and relied on set pieces. Apart from that, off the ball they were aggressive too.

Was watching Germany game in laptop but barely watched, from what I saw, Korea relied on passing rather than just clearing the ball. Hummels missed some 3-4 easy chances which cost them in the end. As a whole, Germany didn't deserve to qualify, it was very poor WC for them.

Uni why is korea's team declining you think, the squad is not bad at all? is it the coach's tactical approach?

I dono. I don't follow korean football, at all. From what I can tell it's a mix of the FA, coach and players - so basically everyone.

First, the FA is ludicrous. Nepotism is immense in Korea. Combine that with the Korean cultural hierarchy of superiority, and you've got a bad mix of misplaced priorities. The FA will pick coaches they are friends with or business associates with, people who they owe a favor to. Then those coaches will show favoritism to those the players who came from the same universities as them etc. They'll pick a captain based on his place in the hierarchy, rather than their ability to lead on the pitch.

Second, this particular coach is apparently an extreme case of incompetence mixed with a frightening detachment from reality. As I said, I don't follow Korean football (because why the fuck would I) but I've been hearing nothing but nightmare stories from my friends who do. To begin with, his tactics seem ludicrously ineffective. Korea have looked inept and impotent in all 3 games. Do not let the Germany result fool you. They defended resiliently, but Germany were atrocious. Then, the coach seems to have delusions of grandeur regarding his tactics. He's deliberately played weaker lineups, different formations, even given his players different shirt numbers all in his words, as a tactic to try and confuse his opposition. The last friendly before the world cup was played behind closed doors, no fans, no media, and he was still worried that the Senegal coach was going to leak his tactics to opponents.

Finally, the players are just garbage. Ki Seung Yueng looks finished as a player. He should focus on finding a new team (he's leaving relegated Swansea) where he can play regularly and build himself back up. Son is obviously a decent player. Tottenham are obviously very strong these days and for him to a regular first team player there shows he can play at a high level. But in the Korea NT he tries to do too much by himself and this backfires most of the time. The goalkeeper looks OK. He should do everything in his power to move to a small European side. Everyone else appears to be fucking hopeless. I like the Lee kid from Verona but he still hasn't made the transition from talented kid to reliable young player.

Does Korea still pay the ref ala 2002?

Was this a continuation of 2002? I didn't bother watching any of their games this world cup.

Korea got robbed against Mexico. They gave up a PK then in the 2nd half mexico does the same exact hand ball and no PK.

Korea was not that bad just a tough group

Japan beat a 10 man Colombia. They played with a extra man all game. Let them beat Poland then you can say they are better then Korea

Iran an even weaker group with the two most over rated teams in the Cup. A lucky own goal got them their 1st 3 points. Then a PK got them a tie

How exactly are Japan or Iran better then Korea. If anything just much much luckier

Korea scored a legit 1st goal against Germany and without Var..... they would have tied or lost.

Damn such an articulate and nuanced explanation. Kudos to you Uni  and I hope korea will do great things in the next asian cup.

Cheers. I mean for me, Inter is number 1 by miles. My support for the Korea NT is sub-mediocre at best. The only times I watch Korea are the big international tournaments and I'd rather kill myself than watch our friendlies. Like most people I hope a non-Korean coach takes charge of the team because they obviously won't have political reasons for squad selection etc.

I call BS. You paid attention to the 2015 Asia cup when they lost to Australia. If not being in attendance or at a bar watching it.
