Statements after the match:

Zanetti: "I’ve been through many negative situations like the one from this evening, but lately they always happen to us. I’m talking about the non-existent penalty that Atalanta received, which is really shameful. He told us he saw a handball from Samuel, and we told him he’d see from the replay that it was never there. There was a penalty on Ranocchia? The replays speak for themselves. I won’t say anymore because I don’t want us to risk punishment for these things as well." These statements came from Javier Zanetti immediately after tonight’s match against Atalanta.

Strama:"Doubts about the penalty? It was non-existent," said Andrea Stramaccioni to Sky Sport Italia after the Atalanta match.
The coach continued: "The referee greatly influenced the outcome. He said it was for a handball by Samuel. First I thought they were errors, but it turned out to be something that only the referee saw. We haven’t received a penalty yet in this second half of the season. I think Gervasoni, acting independently and on his own, influenced the outcome by seeing something that wasn’t there. Something that never took place. We spent five minutes trying to understand what had happened. At one point on the bench we thought it was a foul by Ranocchia, but then the referee said it was a handball by Samuel. You cannot do this. You simply cannot. We already have our problems but… you cannot award a penalty like that. I’m young, so maybe I’ll get run out at the end of the year. But it’s incredible to see a penalty like that given. We don’t have the strength to be stronger than these episodes. Third place? We just lost an ugly game. We’re not going to start making calculations now."

No".

In English: "I will only talk about the penalty, a penalty that really changed the outcome of the match, and puts the team in a situation where they feel ignored. I believe there have been 20 or 21 matches in which penalties have not been awarded for us, and I think It's impossible for the referees not to have seen penalties in our favour. Do I believe in the good faith of the referees? No."

rough translation from me.

Everyone from Moratti to Strama to Zanetti should shut the fuck up about a penalty and practice on their finishing from 40 cm.

Moaning about refereeing is one of my pet peeves. Yes, they got a free goal, but what about the other 3? It wasn't the refs that made Denis look like fucking Vieri in his prime.

I know it's not a good time to ask questions but it's so important that I had to make an account to discuss it with you.

Why is this forum so dark? Only because Inter wears blue and black it doesn't mean the background has to be dark blue. It makes it pretty hard to enjoy the forums. I'm visiting this site when Inter loses, which is a frequent thing to happen, and all these dark colors kill most of the fun. I hope you take care of this as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

Because it in effect changed the match.. it also doesn't help that we weren't given a clear one as well..

I agree that the penalty fucked up the game. And we were denied clear one as well.

However, that doesn't justify the drop in the play after we conceded the second. We were doing great till then, and just fell apart. Big team should not, MUST NOT do that. Strama was simply unable to bring the players up as they were, and we managed to concede 3 in 10 minutes or so.

We were robbed with Jose too... But he was able to stabilize the team, mental-wise. Strama is not, not yet. Simple as that. This defeat goes on the refs soul, BUT Strama takes even bigger blame.

Happy I missed this one live (was at church on this Sunday).... the tape I saw was an abomination though. No reason to moan about the refs when this team deserved to lose.

Not that it matters tho.. Defeat, draw, same shit, both are equal to defeat atm... Only change in statistics.

We were wining 3:1. Make it 3:2, or hell, even 3:3... But 3:4 after a 3:1 lead, L - O - L.

non existent penalty given to them + Rano's missed chance + not awarded penalty to us <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< losing at san siro after a 3:1 lead to ata-motherfucking-lanta.

Even with 2 sent offs a 3:1 lead should mean a victory against atalanta...

I called this situation 3 years ago...

We're in the same level as Genoa, Bologna, Atalanta, Fiore, Samp, Catania. It is official.

And whose fault is it that it changed the match? We were still winning 3-2 and completely fell apart. That's a far bigger concern then some missed call.

Not even close.. we have something none of these clubs have... We have our name.

We can still attract top players and prospects from anywhere, just as long as we're willing to start spending..

 where is this nosense coming from? What makes you think we have not been spending enough lately, atleast equaled to other top teams?

Pereira €10 million, Guarin €11 million, Palacio €10 million, Handa €11M, Kovačić €13 million, Álvarez €8 million, Jonathan €7 million, Nagatomo €11 million, Ranocchia €12.5 million (valued at €19 million in total). And it can go on, plus I won't include extended contracts of useless players which also costs us a shitload of money per year.

Now, please enlighten me, what do you mean by willing to start spending?? Haven't we done that in the last 3 years? How much did it cost Juve to build the best team in Italy? How much did it cost Fiorentina to replace thier entire squad in one transfer window and still build a fantastic team?

I don't see why we should spend much more than those mid-table teams to just be able to beat them, that's crazy! What makes us so special? Why can't we play proper football with the amount of money we have spent in the last 3 years?? Ermm umm.....

Yeah, I think somthing is fucked up in our club, and even if we spend a little more, it won't change. But it freaks me out when people act as if we haven't spent just as much as other top clubs in Italy in the past years, it really does! Why must we look so clueless, playing worse than a mid-table team, yet have spent more than all of them combined? I won't count exceptionals as Roma, cause they might be the only team that spends as much (if not more?) than us, and still below us in the table. But come on, atleast thier fans aren't getting cancer from watching thier team play, and give it a few more weeks and they will pass us aswell and perhaps kick us out of the coppa.

Inter Milan lost 4-3 to Atalanta after leading 3-1 with less than half an hour remaining. We lost it ourselves no use blaming the referring in italy it's always bad, but strama and the players are to blame we can kiss goodbye champions league.

Not one of those players you mentioned there is World Class and barring Kova, not a single one of them is highly coveted. So no we haven't been spending. It's like Juventus from 2007 to like 2010.... they spent a lot of money on a lot of players.. but how many of those players actually play for them now in their real, non rebuilding team?

Buying players =/= spending money. Fiorentina are not us, and will never be us, and although their model is admirable, it shouldn't be compared or considered by us.. They're not making the UCL and will probably do what ever other mid table Italian club does in the summer.

This is the second time today someone has compared this Inter to a situation that is completely different to what we actually are.. The closest thing that this Inter resembles, is Juventus of 2009/2010.

I don't get your point though... how do you define World Class..? Was Cavani world class before joining Napoli? Was Vidal world class before moving to Juve? You see, It's a rough term. Players aren't born world class, you make them world class. Just because we have failed (So far, even though it might change with a new coach), with most of our signings, doesn't it mean we were not trying to rebuild??

We have spent quite alot, I don't get why you are trying to compare us to 2010's Juve either, do you really think we will be selling the players we just purchased anytime soon? Well bar Ricky, I can't see us selling anyone else, anytime soon.

Yep we need to move on, and buy some more skillful players, but I can't really see how it will change our game by so much to make us UCL worthy. No world class (proven, with all due respect Kova isn't one yet..), players will join the current Inter, not without CL football.

Plus how are we going to replace Palacio, Milito, JZ, Cuchu & Samuel, so soon? the fact that they all might stay next season, and some of them are here to start, will affect our future signings aswell cause no potential world class players will join us to rot on the bench.

To sum it up, we have spent quite alot and should play much better than this, even with a coach as bad as Strama. Cause even without him, I see way bigger problems in the team.

I missed this game. Did we get May 5th this morning ?

Was it a deserved loss or a troll loss ? How was Rocchi ? And how did Denis (the menace) get a hat-trick ?

Mate, we can't simply just buy our way out of this mess.

Maybe to take a step foward, we need to take a step back.

And yes we have been spending. We just have been spending badly.

That Juventus team had that useless director if I remember correctly called Alessio Secco who makes Branca look like a genius. It was only when the manager, director and president changed did Juventus improve. But also remember Juventus have spent over 120 mil Euros Net since 2010. And its look like Moratti is not willing to invest that type of money at the moment. So thats why I believe there is no short term way out of this crisis. We simply have to start from scratch with low realistic expectations. That is why a step back is what we need at the moment.
