Realistically I think with Morata being out (although apparently he was called up) this was pretty much what he was always going to play. The only more offense change he would have made was Depay for Llorente, who if you remember started his career as a DM at Real Madrid.

Basically he is coming to sit deep and hit on the break, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. If we can get the first goal this will be a lot easier. However, Griezmann is still capable of doing something world class out of nowhere.
Reinildo only recently returned to the lineup after a long-term injury, the usual set-up involves 3CBs with Hermoso/Witsel/[Savic/Gimenez/Reinildo] and usually either Lino or Riquelme playing LWB and Llorente at RWB. If Lino and Riquelme both are being sat (at least to begin) tomorrow, I consider this a positive for us, but it also basically means we must get a clean sheet in this game and not allow Griezmann to beat us because, shit, this is terrorist football Simeone's going for tomorrow. He's trying for the 0-0 going back to Madrid.
So, basically, we're about to experience levels of terrorism heretofore unseen.

Clear that Diego wants to annihilate our wing backs.

If Hakan is good we'll win

I dont think you guys watched Atletico much if you still think they are the same team that used to be a problem in CL.
They always play big against Real but besides that they had quite a few stinkers this season.
Obviously they have to be taken seriously and we have to play our best but they are nowhere near the level they used to be.

Exactly. And our record against Spanish teams in general is horrible. This is 50-50 at best.
What does that even mean? Teams are just a group of players that come and go. What does a historic record against a "jurisdiction" matter?

I don't buy these rumors of them starting with a heavy defense, but if by some chance they actually do it it would be prime time for Hakan and Barella to start hitting those long range shots. We have very little experience breaking down a bunker and most of our players are not comfortable shooting from afar.

I'm sure Morata is not ready and he will repeat with Llorente as forward. He doesn't trust Depay but i rather if he plays Depay who doesn't click 100% with Griezman.

Logic is there is no way we are favourites against them after one good CL campaign. I don't care how good we are in Serie A,this is a completely new tournament and league results doesn't matter.
Logic is that Inter is one of the best teams in the world atm and that's it. It has nothing to do with last season.

We honestly did nothing (yet) to prove we are one of the best. But this a good chance to do that as @thatdude mentioned.
We are still missing a big scalp in CL. I think we need to get that monkey off our back and this is a great opportunity to do it.

Beating Milan, Porto, and Benfica just doesn’t have the prestige. We haven’t beaten a real European elite team in a 2 leg tie since 2011. You could argue Atletico aren’t quite that at the moment either but they’re the closest thing to it since our tie with Liverpool.

If we want to be respected by casuals we need to start winning these match ups.
This is very important.

I don't care if we are respected by casuals, I want to know we won't be in financial ruin. That is the main reason why I want Inter to win and progress. I rather cheer for a competitive and financially healthy/ier club than for a quick flash of respect. The 09/10 Inter has respect and we all know that wasn't enough to keep the club from financial struggle and bad choices for the next 6 or 7 or 8 seasons.

Now we are back. Respect will come either way, but if we fall again like we did, all this building of a team will be almost for nothing. I rather have a long dynasty than another Trippletta season and a decade of failure and bad transfers.

We are serie A flagship now but not Europe. Not yet anyway. A good run this year coupled with the final last year would turn us into one.
To further expand on my previous post about Atletico. They are playing same module as us 3-5-2 this year and they are actually playing entertaining football. They have a better offense than usual but lost consistency and defense. Their defense lost them lots of games this season. They are capable of beating Real but then next weak lose to Sevilla/any other team or conceed 4 from Girona.
They no longer feel like that gritty fucker of a team that is so hard to beat but their offensive play improved massively and Griezman and Morata are a menace. Morata is having his best season.... ever. If Thuram did not deliver like he does we would be discussing Morata way more.

Oh the excitement builds!!!! So looking forward to this one, full of confidence I am, not being disrespectful to Atletico I just feel it in my bones. We really need a huge first leg as well away day 2nd legs are not fun.

Let's get the confidence growing in here let's get the hype going forget about the politics and focus on our team, being the 12th man, backing every selected player to do their job, supporting them!

Gamedayyyyyyyy babbbyyyyyyyy
