Inter Declare Press Silence

Inter Milan have issued a “silenzio stampa”, press silence, reportedly because they feel they are being victimised by the press in the aftermath of Sunday’s match against Parma.

Trailing 2-1, they were awarded a dubious 88th minute penalty for a handball by Fernando Couto. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the spot-kick and then hit the winner deep into stoppage time.

This resulted in some furious outbursts from the Parma hierarchy, as well as Roma boss Luciano Spalletti, and Inter are unhappy with how the Italian press have reported on the controversy.

President Massimo Moratti has not spoken to the media since the game, and he has now been joined by Coach Roberto Mancini.

The club’s pre-match press conference for tomorrow’s Coppa Italia tie with Juventus has been cancelled.

There has been no official explanation by Inter for the press silence but it is believed to be because they feel victimised by the press coverage of the Inter-Parma match on Sunday night

The media is shameful..

Cuoto admitted it,the coach said he overexagerrated his claims today, and the camera shows it.

It seems there are forces behind the scenes that cant the success Inter is getting in a clean race.

I think this is ok. No need to get involved in this ridiculous mess. Like Ziyad said, Couto admitted it and Di Carlo was furious, but said he was talking in fury.

I don't know why the hell Spaletti would open his mouth about anything. Just because his team plays a good match doesn't mean Inter should be penalised.

Ridiculous crap.

Good move by the club indeed, we shouldn’t take this shit - especially as today also Parma's coach had a much softer tone when he discussed the game.
Sure, his team was somehow unlucky in their previous game against Viola. But damn.. he should have acted more mature after the game. At the end of the day we shouldn’t be victimized because 2 consecutive weekends the ref failed to blow his whistle in their favor for some 50-50 incidents (against us and Viola).

Everyone who saw the game could tell you that he was totally out of control from the first minute – kicking and punching the substitutions box and ranting whenever we were awarded a simple free kick even. So you could see that coming. Anyway instead of all this he should teach that Brazilian of his Reginaldo to pass the ball a bit more – maybe then they might have a better chance to get something out of the game when we meet them next. ;)

Proud of my club. :proud: FORZA INTER!!

We need to stand up for certain things, the refs decision was out of our control, we didnt chose him to ref our game, nor did we give him any cars or women. Its high time we took a stand against the biased media.

Not much needs to be added then what has already been said. Absolutely the right decision. Media have no shame, especially that propaganda "Il Romanista" paper.

Feck em!

This is exactly what I wanted and I am glad the club did a wonderful thing to keep the media out of this.

This is exactly what we had to do after all these:

“There were some suspect incidents at the Inter-Parma game,” Spalletti told Radio Anch’io Sport.

My feelings are along the same lines as Domenico Di Carlo:rolleyes:. I woke up today with a huge feeling of disappointment and the task of lifting the players heads up after they put in such a great performance and made no ground up.”

....................................

“It’s a tough issue,” Ranieri admitted. “Referee designator Pierluigi Collina has said that it isn’t a penalty when the ball rebounds and hits a hand after a head.

“However, there are young referees who need to re-learn the intricacies if they are to do well in the game.”

# Not a bad comment to make.

.................................

Said Di Carlo: “I won’t judge Couto and whether it was a penalty or not, but in the first half we had a clear penalty denied on Bernardo Corradi.

“Refereeing designator Pierluigi Collina met with us a month ago and told us handball only counts if it is a voluntary gesture, but this clearly was not. Even if they gave the spot-kick, the red card was out of the question.”

Couto Gives His Side Of The Story

Meanwhile, Couto explained after the match that the referee had indeed made a mistake with his decision.

“I got the ball with my head and as it went past it glanced against my hand, but it was barely any contact and certainly not intentional,” said the defender.

“I don’t think it was going in, I headed the ball towards the byline. I was diving to get to it and so my arm went up inevitably.“

As Usual, Inter Needed Help To Win - Di Carlo

.................................

"Everyone saw a header by Couto; only the linesman also saw a handball by our defender," thundered Ghirardi during Italia 1's program 'Controcampo'.

"Then there was a clear penalty in our favour in the first half [which wasn't awarded]," concluded the Parma's president.

.................................

Corriere dello Sport
Inter scandal! Parma denied a penalty before Inter get a nonexistent spot-kick as it finishes 3-2

..................................

“Inter scored in the only way they could have – from the penalty spot,” Lucarelli growled.

# What the hell was he on to make a comment like this, or is his souls still in Russia, that he has not been following Serie games ??

Di Carlo clearly doesn't remember the non-existent FK given to Parma from which they scored 2-1. Corradi was diving all over the place. He is such a softy.

We did the right thing. Say more will only bait more responds, which unlikely are gonna be positive. It's said and done. What else do these people try to achieve? Say we're lucky, the ref. is young & made mistakes. That's luck. Wasn't an arrangement. These people just need to have their words out, hopefully that make them feel better. If not, oh well.

But from our part, there's nothing we can do. Mancini already admitted that Parma did play good & we didn't give our best. But we still won. It's just football. Once again, nobody made it happen. It just did.

Let these folks spill their guts out. Eventually they'll shut up & move on.

Very interesting. I'm not sure if a press silence is the best solution though. Even though this proves that we're not taking sh!t from anyone, it also means that Interisti are now isolated from hearing interviews from those associated to the club. Maybe the press silence doesn't extend to inter.it?

Inter haven't "declared" anything... they are just silent for no reason given, and anything else is pure speculation.... if you do declare, you're not really silent are you ;) This is just another goal.com fart... let's get our news only from inter.it

I don't agree with a complete press shutout. They should have banned the press but do a press conference for the gobbi with just the inter channel guys. The fans still not ot hear mancio's thoughts on the game.

I think it does, as there are no news on English version. Though, I didn't check the Italian :)
